11/04-11/05 Michigan Tech vs. Minn State - A Civil Chat Among Future WCCHA Teams

Re: 11/04-11/05 Michigan Tech vs. Minn State - A Civil Chat Among Future WCCHA Teams

What's the WCCHA?

It's what you get when you take the most dedicated teams from the former WCHA and CCHA leagues and combine their super powers into one Superior league.
World Championship College Hockey Association

Mankato week...

I am very cautious about predicting Tech sweeping anything other than floor in McNair Hall, but it seems like this should be a good bet. Which probably means there will be a letdown. :p

I wish we could see a better team at Mankato, it is sad to see what appears to be a lack of interest by the administration at MSU-M leading to poor results. Mankato could be a successful program if the school put the effort and money into improving.

Hey now, be nice to me or I'll find a way to get something into your water supply..;)

It's not my fault you choose the one profession that I hate the most.

Unless you were born a civil engineer, in which case I withdraw my comments under the fear of being ridiculed by the main stream media for being an insensitive bigot.

If you hate civils so much, why did you hang out with them so much at school?

The ones I hung out with at Tech are the only ones I found tolerable, besides none of them designed the traffic grid in Detroit.

I'm a mechanical, but I get the feeling you are setting yourself up to be crushed by a bridge some day when you least expect it. Karma is a ******.

Driving on the freeways in the Metro Detroit Area, this would not surprise me at all.

you hit the nail on the head with that one, bbdl. it's sad, especially in such a hockey rich state as Minnesota.

As you wish..you may want to check the contaminate levels of your groundwater..

Boom! don't drive on any of my bridges. they'll be designed to flaw only for you, Darkness.;)

In other news, we should know more by Wednesday if we'll be able to dress a full roster this week without having to dress three goaltenders.

Re: 11/04-11/05 Michigan Tech vs. Minn State - A Civil Chat Among Future WCCHA Teams

I'm going to say Tech comes through with a letdown and only splits.

I think whether or not they can avoid the letdown is the first big test as to if this Husky team is poised to make some real noise.
They need to pile up wins against some of the weaker opponents. If Tech had managed a split in Bemidji, you would have to be pretty biased not to have them in the top-ten nationally right now.

The other test for the Huskies will be ongoing; can they routinely come out of those series against the top teams with a couple or more points.

I have to admit, I'm pretty excited for Houghton right now. But it's early. This weekend is the kind of weekend Tech needs to dominate if they want home ice or to be part of the NCAA picture.

Re: 11/04-11/05 Michigan Tech vs. Minn State - A Civil Chat Among Future WCCHA Teams

It should probably be expected. Tech is good, and we have half of the team healthy, and we struggle anyways.

I'm sorry that you won the 2009-2010 Michigan Tech team in the College Hockey Sweepstakes :o

Your bridges are racist :p

I'm predicting something like 4-1 Tech, 2-1 OT Mankato, with Tech getting caught flat-footed on Saturday. No getting swept like at Bemidji, but not quite enough seriousness in their play.

Say is Eriah Hayes playing this weekend or is he hurt? I'm a Tech fan but my son played and graduated with him. Tried to get the previous regime at Tech to take a look at him but I don't think they ever did. He was a USHL teammate of Tech's Dan Sova.

Getting healthy
Minnesota State looked like a healthier team during practice on Monday afternoon.

Michael Dorr, Eriah Hayes, Max Gaede and J.P. Burkemper all participated in the workout, although afterward, coach Troy Jutting didn't say who, if any, would be ready to play this weekend at Michigan Tech (now ranked No. 16 in the country). My impression is that Dorr and Hayes are head of the others, which would be huge for the Mavs, but I expect to learn more later in the week.
It looks as though Hayes has a shot to play this weekend. Having Dorr, Hayes, Burkemper and Gaede play this weekend would be huge offensively;we might have minimal depth then!;)

No kidding!

Definitely not racist bridges.:)

A split would be a good weekend for the Mavs.

Re: 11/04-11/05 Michigan Tech vs. Minn State - A Civil Chat Among Future WCCHA Teams

Its weird that teams are thinking it would be a good weekend to get out of Houghton with a split.

It is still early, this team needs to keep up the good play for longer than the first month of season...

Ouch! That's the story of our last two seasons. At least you have resorted to picking up walk on players from campus yet.
