Just tuned in and missed what all the penalties were about. Anyone following that can give me an idea?

McGrath (I think) was skating out of the zone when a Denver player took him out on a knee to knee hit. The original call was a penalty on Lowell. When the whistle blew there was some pushing a shoving so a Lowell player and a Denver player received minors. After a lengthy discussion by the refs they figured out that McGrath was the victim and a Denver player got tossed.

Lowell has a 3 minute PP to start the 2nd period.

Totally blows because DU got about a min of pre-whistle advantage out of that.

Hope we can do something in 0:45 when the pp starts.

watching the denver webcast and it wasnt clear at first that McGrath got kneed. Connor is looking good after his first period

Thanks guys. Bob seemed a little confused. Initially thought we should have had advantage but then McGrath was called and I missed the explanation.

Interesting 2nd period.

The 1st Denver goal was a missile. The 2nd was soft as Hellebucyk should have had that. Good to see Lowell get one back before the end of the period.

Denver is a very good defensive team so we need something special to salvage a tie.

The feed from denverpioneers.com is very good and their "homer" announcers are being fair. They have called us UMass a few times but have called us UMass Lowell more often than not.

Any opinions on why Norm played Hellebucyk over Carr tonight?

We have no offense. We take way too many penalites. Houk (at this point) has 19 minutes in penalties in less than 2 games...can we play Lyles :eek: instead? They better get their act together fast.

To be fair to Houk, 15 of those 19 minutes came from a hitting too hard penalty last week against UVM.

Well, that's the start DU needed. They came out swinging, and you can definately see what all the hub bub is about regarding DU's defense. Sam Brittain was really really good. He downright robbed Umass Lowell on a couple stellar saves. A fast paced game. UML skated right with Denver, too. Fun game

Game was closer than the final score. Denver scores 3 in the third within 2 minutes. Two on the PP thanks to idiotic penalty by Thompson. Lowell's a good team--their fast and they worked hard all night. Carr looked to be their better goalie. I agree Sam was seeing the puck like he did in 10-11. He will win the job. IMO it's a waste of time to look at Ucie and Adam but that's the way George rolls. The pass and shot on the 3rd goal from Nick to Zajac was crazy good. In general Nick has matured. He looks to be more patient with the puck. PP was 2-3 and there was some impressive cycling. Clearly they worked hard on it over the last two weeks. I also liked how the boys came out hitting early on. I hope that can be expanded on. My biggest hope for this team after the disappointing implosion at the end of last year is that they will develop a true work ethic and play the full 60 minutes every night. Last year's team was lazy and individual in it's approach. I saw a little of that when they went up 2-0 tonight. Sitting back thinking that they have it won. Given the level of parody in CH any team that is undisciplined like that is doomed. Without the 5 on 3 that game could have gone either way. If I'm the Lowell coach I sit Thompson in the Springs. I predict the Riverhawks will bounce back in the cement toilet tomorrow night.

Apparently that call was very legit after reviewing it. My guess is that he is going to need some time to adjust to D I. He's not in Kansas anymore. I get the feeling the team is going to take some time to get the right chemistry. We didn't lose a ton of guys but they were cog wheels for the team and the guys left seem to be having some growing pains. There are a few that just plain seem to be struggling or trying to do too much.

Fell asleep in 3rd. How was the rest of the game? I was wondering about the altitude stuff. I went the last 2 times they were out there. The first time I was fine. The last time the altitude made me miserable. On the second day I ran a short distance, got a blasting headache that didn't leave me until the plane pressurized. Miserable. (We also arrived in a huge blizzard and everything was shut down :p)

Not going to get into last night's game (and i'm going right back to sleep after i work out my room's humidity issue by running the shower for awhile)... but I do appreciate that the scoreboards etc said "Lowell"... do appreciate the attention to detail.

Tuned in to hear SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORE!! Up until then it sounds like not much has been going on.

I didn't think Lowell put many grade A scoring chances on Denver. Most of the shots came from bad angles and didn't have much on them. I thought Denver did well to keep them out there and not let them break in and make many plays.

Got to meet a bunch of the DU and CC fans while outside between periods on both nights. Thanks all for the kindness.

Great trip, wish Lowell had a better result on Friday, but at least if you make a long trip, walking away with one win is better than nothing.
