1/3/15 - No Cows in Frozen, Olaf! Just Rolling through, Ed! Eye of the Tiger!

Re: 1/3/15 - No Cows in Frozen, Olaf! Just Rolling through, Ed! Eye of the Tiger!

6-5 SHG by snc, point still up by one, under 6 to play, SNC has 3:50 left in 5 min major

Edit: that's how it ends, a good game, pretty chippy

I don't even want to venture a guess how many games I've seen in my years but that one ranks up there as one of the strangest ever.

I have not seen a stranger game than this one snc vs point...granted watching it on my iPad but friends texting also validates what a crazy one for calls, missed calls, missed goals....bummer I missed it in person

I watched the SNC/Point game in it's entirety. Yes. Strange indeed. Not one, but two pucks went through the netting for SNC. Of course, I couldn't make that out on the video feed, but the players, coaches, announcers, fans sitting behind the nets, healthy scratches, pretty much everyone in the arena were certain they both were goals. But, those non-goals didn't bother me half as much as Higgins getting checked from behind head first into the boards and laying on the ice for 10 seconds without a whistle. First off, there should have been a penalty. The refs allowed play to continue and Point scored an uncontested goal. Needless to say, this may only be the first of two meetings between these two sides. Both teams played well. The tenders were off tonight on both sides. I suspect the next meeting will be low scoring.

I'm with you on that...the most bizarre game I have ever seen @ the CCC. The first 'no goal' by Zepeda, clearly went in the front of the goal and out the back...the net rippled as the puck exited....did not clearly see the second one.
I got a feeling these two teams will meet again later in the season...

I knew we were in for a 'strange' night, when the computerized ticket system failed and anyone 'without' a ticket got in free!! It mushroomed from there........

Boy, that was such a great idea for the NCHA to do away with goal judges....

EDIT: I hate when things like this happen, when there is a relatively easy way to get calls like that correct.

I did not realize that...the NCHA...did away with the goal judges....was this the first season for that change??

Yes. We were told that there were problems at some schools with student workers and other issues.

OK, thanks for the heads up...
One thing I do know....I bet new nets get installed on both goals @ the CCC, before the next time SNC plays at home!!

Crazy game between UWSP and SNC. I sat right above the 2nd non goal. It did not go through the net. It went wide. Also for the player being down, Point had posession so it isn't that uncommon for the ref to let play go, especially if no penalty was called. The referees were awful in this game.

If there was no goal judges, why did the lights go on for the other goals?

It was also classy of Noberts to act like a team coached by Wil Nichol at the end. The spear to the head of Brodie was terrible.

You couldn't have been sitting in that section. I didn't see any trolls in that area.

Re: 1/3/15 - No Cows in Frozen, Olaf! Just Rolling through, Ed! Eye of the Tiger!

It would be interesting to see detailed photos of the alleged holes/gaps in the nets, especially the spot Zepeda found, but Coghlin would never allow for such nonsense from his players or any of the CCC staff. Can't live in the past.

I'm fine with the outcome of the game. SNC showed some real spark and were able to turn the intensity WAY up. As is, the game is very good for Point's Pool B/C resume, combined with their win at Adrian. I would very much like to see a rematch this season if both schools are fortunate enough to reach the NCAA's. I am very optimistic about what that outcome would likely be...

Wow, didn't realize they did away with goal judges. I know locally our colleges use adults and other trustworthy individuals to act as goal judges. But I have heard stories in the SUNYAC conference at some rinks the goal judges are college kids and they aren't impartial so I get it.

first one is had to see, second one definitely looks like its just wide and was the right call

So you missed the shot of the puck on the blue ice inside the net?
