I know you were being facetious, but it seems some others think that's just sensible. Apparently some lives are worth more than others. For folks like that...I don't quite feel that way, even though I think there is something very wrong with them. I reserve what would amount to a death penalty for crimes a bit more serious than having an illegal gun.

You'd be surprised at the legal gun ownership rates amongst the citizenry. America has the highest by far, after that it's the European nations with the guns. These are not owned by the government, and they could not count illegally held weapons.

Yes, serious. What are you suggesting you do with the mental screening that does not take away some other right? You can't punish someone for potentially doing something.

Why? It works fine in other countries- it would only be a matter of time to round up all of the guns.

And if we continue to force us to not have reasonable controls on the 2nd, like there are on every single other amendment, it will eventually go that way. The more people die, the more public opinion will go to the side of anti-gun. Especially as mass murders happen.

Why is that eventuality not obvious? RIGHT NOW, we are seeing the NRA support being eroded, we are seeing the arms industry struggle, since so few are buying, etc. If we continue to suggest that every tiny step to reduce gun violence by controlling guns is the same as "they are coming for my guns"- it WILL eventually lead to the repeal of the 2nd. No way around that.

Australia is a police state? Germany is a police state?

Again, American attitudes are CLEARLY shifting to anti gun. Keep pushing it, and it will go far enough to repeal the 2nd.

And Australia and Germany are so much like the US in gun attitudes.

Clearly, the BANZ THE GUNZ crowd is not about realistic compromises, just like the Herpaderps are all about keeping every gun known to man. Both camps are insane.

What other countries have ever owned anywhere close to the amount of guns we have in this country?

I’d be surprised if many people’s minds have been changed over the last two months. It’s the vocal minority versus the silent majority.

Germans have 30 firearms per 100 people. Australia has 24 per 100. There's certainly a difference in attitude towards using weapons, even if those weapons are available for use.

So you've not paid attention to the majority of people wanting some kind of gun controls?

Are you intentionally obtuse over that?

People's minds have been changing for years, but now we have a brave set of KIDS who are willing to take on Fox and the NRA. Kids. And they are winning.

The more people stand in their way for simple changes, the more likely the anti-gun people will grow. Especially as more people die in a very preventable way. This isn't rocket science.

What does it even mean people support more gun control? I’d be happy if more people were put in the NICS database, does that mean I support more gun control?

While obviously exaggerated, a valid point. Many Herpaderps own a crapton of guns, which is slightly less than a sh*load.
