Re: 0 Days Since Last Shooting: But the Second Amendment!

@jessekellyDC Why do I need an AR-15? Because some day the government may tell me I'm not allowed to put my sick son on a plane and fly him to Italy for treatment. And believe me when I tell you I WILL be putting him on that plane.

Let me get this straight. You want a military assault rifle because you have a fantasy about hijacking a plane and flying your son to a country with socialized medicine. Sounds reasonable.

The fact this clown wants to hijack a plane should in no way infringe upon his right to own a gun.

It's not viable without massive costs and a massive military operative (which, btw, would play into the Herpaderps opinion of "They're taking our guns!"). So, you take 2-3 steps at a time, wait a bit, and hopefully hear "Hey, this isn't bad" and then take a few more steps." All or nothing leads to nothing. We've seen that, over and over.

Wrong.

Donald has changed us all.

Re: 0 Days Since Last Shooting: But the Second Amendment!

What new laws have been passed, or what old ones have been tightened up in the last 3-4 years?

Yeah, that's what I thought.

You either believe in incrementalism or you don't. I do. And it's been the defacto process of the United States of America for the past 240 years.

Everything you've said in this thread the past couple days has come off as an all-or-nothing way of handling the gun issue. Your "Wrong" comment to Brent is proof enough of that.

LOL.

Wrong.

What has been all or nothing? What's been done up to this point has been the nothing. Let me know when any of the gun nuts in here actually offer something of substance. Until then it's all more NRA window dressing.

Example. You want the car comparison. Then make them the same. Or don't compare. It's that simple. That's not all or nothing. That's logic.

I thought the US had the best medical care in the world?

Obama made it tougher for the mentally ill to get a gun.

Trumpy repealed that as soon as he took office.

BSABSVR.

We had an assault weapons ban. The Republicans got rid of it. Now we can't have a new one.

Brent just offered the idea that we start paring down people who can't get a gun based upon X reason, and then go a little further. Then you Trump'd him with a "wrong."

I have never wanted or made car comparisons. I've not been commenting much at all on this thread for the past few weeks, only reading.

We're arguing about the viability of a ban on assault weapons. He says it's impossible and that nothing can be done. That's what I'm commenting on.

It is impossible without a major military operation and not feasible in any way, due to costs, manpower, and resistance. In THAT instance, nothing really CAN be done. But other things CAN be done, like a couple steps at a time. That's not something you want to hear, so you dismiss it completely.

What happened to most gun owners being good law abiding citizens? Why would there be resistance? Sounds like they are mostly kooks that should have their guns taken away ;)

And all the millions of guns owned by the herpaderps....they have 20? They'll give you 15 if a total ban was legalized and claim that's all they have. We'd have the same problems, with the same results. Criminals would still get/have the guns and use them. Period. Only now, and (sigh) yes, I have to resort to this, the "good guy with the gun cannot protect." I f*ing hate using that argument, because I want the responsible people using the guns. And not all who are qualified now can have access to the guns. I want to limit the qualifications. PROVE to me that you can own a gun responsibly.

Re: 0 Days Since Last Shooting: But the Second Amendment!

It's impractical to implement to 100% certainty, so therefore do nothing. Argument as old as time. See: the libertarian position on drugs.

I agree you aren't going to change the culture overnight. If anything, you'll inflame some parts of the country. That doesn't mean we shouldn't do it.

Wrong again.
