0 Days Since Last Shooting: But the Second Amendment!

If his father did give him the guns back in violation of the law, he can and should be prosecuted as well. https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/922
State of Illinois has the tightest requirements for gun ownership in the nation; making it illegal to possess a firearm or ammunition in the state if you are a resident and do not have your FOID card.

(430 ILCS 65/1) (from Ch. 38, par. 83-1)
Sec. 1. It is hereby declared as a matter of legislative determination that in order to promote and protect the health, safety and welfare of the public, it is necessary and in the public interest to provide a system of identifying persons who are not qualified to acquire or possess firearms, firearm ammunition, stun guns, and tasers within the State of Illinois by the establishment of a system of Firearm Owner's Identification Cards, thereby establishing a practical and workable system by which law enforcement authorities will be afforded an opportunity to identify those persons who are prohibited by Section 24-3.1 of the Criminal Code of 2012, from acquiring or possessing firearms and firearm ammunition and who are prohibited by this Act from acquiring stun guns and tasers.
(Source: P.A. 97-1150, eff. 1-25-13.)
And, they do a damm good job of outlining what can exclude you from having a FOID card, or grounds for having a FOID card revoked.

It will be interesting to see if the State of Illnois gets involved with the father.

https://www.salon.com/2018/04/23/waffle-house-shooter-travis-reinking-should-not-have-had-the-ar-15-he-used-to-kill/

"Illinois gun laws allow confiscated weapons to be returned to a family member of the person who had had them confiscated, even if the original possessor himself can not own them. Reinking's father received the guns back from authorities and, in turn, is believed to have given them to his son."

It's like changing the law may have actually been able to prevent something like this.

Um, wait, what?

Waffle House gunman who is at large

I haven't followed this story at all. This guy is still at large? The f-ck?

Travis Reinking once told law enforcement officers that singer Taylor Swift had been harassing and stalking him — a delusion that authorities in Illinois said Reinking had had for years.

In 2017, the year before Reinking became the subject of an intensive police manhunt after a deadly shooting at a Tennessee Waffle House, officials said he went to a local pool wearing a pink dress and swam in his underwear while coaxing life guards to fight him. Soon after, he traveled to Washington, D.C., and tried to cross a security barrier near the White House, declaring himself a “sovereign citizen” who wanted to speak with President Trump.

So, Fark has gained sentience?

This kid has to be an illegitimate child of Dump.

Assuming we should be arming waiters, waitresses, line cooks, etc. now?

No.

True story, I was at a Denny's where in the same visit our waitress asked us if we wanted to go do some coke with her in her car, and the line cook was arrested for trying to kill a waitress for putting in an order with too many special requests. This led to a waitress having to cook, which really slows the process.

In short, do not arm anyone who works at a 24 hours restaurant.

The fact that the Denny's remained open for business, and that the customers stayed, is really all you need to know about Denny's.

If the cook had been exercising his 2A rights he could have killed her. And all of you.

It's Tennessee. You shoot up a Waffle House with an AK-47, rocking "the Donald Duck," you tend to blend in.

Edit: He's been captured

Subscribed.

That dad should be charged with accessory.

If the father knew the guns should not be given back, isn't that criminal facilitation and doesn't the father become "co-owner" of the crimes committed?

The gun didn't kill, though, the kid did.

Re: 0 Days Since Last Shooting: But the Second Amendment!

Wow. 79 in a year. That's a slow week here in the States.

We average about 30 gun homicides per day so those kids will have to get a lot more stabby if they want to keep up. 79 isn't a slow week, it's a slow weekend.
