The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
Possible but not likely on the #1 pick. Seattle's already been eliminated so they can start accumulating points toward the #1 pick right away. Not worried because they'll end up with someone good, and then next year when even more expansion happens they'll be starting from square one again.
Injuries, specifically to Kaltounkova, have just killed the Siren offense. I went to the game in NYC and it was a great atmosphere and a great win, but they didn't score until there were four minutes left in the game.
Stoughton's a good player who unfortunately missed a lot of last year with injury. Team will be missing some size without her but I don't feel the same way about this one that I feel about Mossey.
Minnesota's sitting at 12F/7D/3G for next year so they'll need at least two players out of the portal to even match last year's number of players on the roster, although it's impressive they have only lost one (who wouldn't have played) to the portal after a coaching change.
May went on Mike Grimm's podcast today. Among other things, he said that all eleven committed players for the next two seasons had reaffirmed their commitments, the entire coaching staff should be finalized within two weeks, and Sophia Johnson's transfer was a matter of her wanting playing time.
Brad Frost did so much good for Wisconsin women's hockey recently that I'm not surprised that two Badger fans would speak highly of him.
Okay I'm over the past now. Moving on.
Looking at the Gopher website, Jess Scott (and video coach Ryan Kearney) is staying on and Mitch Baker's name is no longer listed.
Some goalie coach names that may make sense:
-Alli Altmann (St. Thomas): Worked with the US Olympic team this year. I'm sure that drew plenty of attention...
Minnesota fans start sandbagging, you rip on them, and the fanbase was completely and entirely vindicated. I wouldn't tempt fate on your end by sandbagging.
Boom did play at Augsburg with the other Minnesota Frost assistant… Chris Johnson, Mark's son. Either one of those would be spicy. I honestly have no idea which way he'll look, though.
On the women's side year 1 after a coaching change is really the time that players enter the portal rather than immediately after a change, I've noticed.
I would imagine and hope Jess Scott sticks around as the program's GM. Entirely possible Mitch Baker (D and goalies) does too but I'm less than 100% sure about that.
Would think there's a need to hire an associate head coach, whoever that may be.
