The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
Seven incoming first-years are welcomed this week!
Looks like the non-conference schedule has shaped up - visible thanks to the schedule document:
Fri Oct 17 - Sat Oct 18 Robert Morris
Tue Nov 4 at 6PM at St. Anselm
Tue Nov 25 at 1PM at Princeton (repeat of last year's non-conference now at...
The ECAC conference schedule is out (composite schedule, with some non-conference games).
No coaches' poll yet for the "projected" standings, but the hockey is around the next corner (or two).
Who is looking like they will be good? Last season was a bit of a surprise I think regarding Cornell...
The season is just over two-ish months away, and so it's time for a new thread!
The compiler of the useful schedule document available on the 25/26 Schedules thread made the interesting find that Ivy League teams can play one more game this year than previous years. They are allowed 8...
Wow, this is really useful - thanks.
Yeah, it feels like Mercyhurst tends to play a great non-conference schedule, as does Penn State! I think last season Penn State's non-conference schedule was aggressive much like this. And then these two teams end up in the AHA championship game repeatedly.
Thanks for the report about the new softball league, Lindsay. Looks exciting. I hadn't heard much about it before but also do not watch much TV, so was missing that mode of diffusion that you refer to.
I found just one Athletic article on the new league; so, yes, they really don't seem to be...
PWHL free agency reopens this morning.
Remaining free agents include the following Unrestricted Free Agents, I think, (plus some players drafted last year - RFAs - and many drafted in the expansion draft and entry draft 2025):
Boston Fleet: Kelly Babstock (F), Jillian Dempsey (F), Loren Gabel...
It sounds like Natalie Buchbinder was a stay-at-home D both at Wisconsin and for the Minnesota Frost, and she seems like a staple of the league.
Maybe Chayla Edwards not being picked is largely because of her not playing last season. Another D, Kate Reilly (Quinnipiac '24), was top 2 or 3 in...
My "mock" entry draft of a few days ago definitely over-drafted on defense.... That list had 6 D (C. Edwards, Poniatovskaia, Philbert, Yovetich, Kettyle, and Muhn), 4 F (Hunt, Boucher, Neitzke and Vekich), and 1 G (Warrener) who were not drafted, while the draft had 2 D (Giaquinto and Becker), 7...
Draft results are in!
Via The Ice Garden - Michelle Jay
Round 1
New York - Kristýna Kaltounková, Forward, Colgate University
Boston - Haley Winn, Defender, Clarkson University
New York (traded Ella Shelton to acquire Toronto's 3rd and 27th pick) - Casey O’Brien, Forward, University of Wisconsin...
True - the fact that the teams need some players on minimum contracts goes to the advantage of the rookies, and the disadvantage of veterans.
Given the jobs that the league is adding with its expansion, though, it feels as though fewer players will retire than "usual" in the past. So, the...
Though I also didn't follow NCAA D1 this past season as much as a couple years ago, I do have some thoughts.
I think that there are certain players from college that the teams will be excited to sign ahead of most of the remaining free agents. Many of them have national team experience - as...
PWHL Signings Tracker on The Ice Garden
Oddly enough, Ottawa is the only team not to have signed or extended any free agents. They have a very small roster for next season so far. Even NY has signed Jincy Roese to their blue line and extended Taylor Girard at forward.
Players who still may be...
Another six players have signed, per thepwhl.com:

- Emma Greco, D, (BOS), now VAN, 2-year contract
- Mariah Keopple, D, (MTL), now SEA, 1-year contract
- Maddie Rooney, G, MIN...
About 11 signings or extensions so far since yesterday morning, per thepwhl.com:
- Kati Tabin, D, MTL, 2-year extension
- Natalie Buchbinder, D, MIN, 2-year extension
- Hannah Miller, F, (TOR), now VAN, 3-year contract
- Shiann Darkangelo, F, (OTT), now MTL, 2-year contract
- Elaine Chuli, G...
I'm glad that you enjoy the updates. I enjoy tracking what's happening in the league, and hearing what everyone thinks when you write here, too. Wishing I was seeing more NY games. It is a 2-3 hour commute to Newark, NJ depending on traffic.
It seems like recent growth in girls' hockey, at a...
The PWHL has announced the draft order and broadcast details -
"The order of selection for the first round of the 2025 PWHL Draft is as follows:
1. New York Sirens (Most Draft Order Points in ‘Gold Plan’)
2.Boston Fleet (Non-Playoff Team)
3. Toronto Sceptres (Lowest Ranked Playoff Semifinalist)...
Hailey Salvian wrote in The Athletic that as of the expansion draft night, Vancouver and Seattle have received more than 10,000 season-ticket deposits total, per the PWHL. The league also announced this week that free agency for players on expiring contracts will open on Monday 6/16 at 9am ET...
The expansion draft is this evening at 8:30pm eastern (on thepwhl.com and their youtube channel)!
Here are the players who've been signed to Vancouver and Seattle pre-draft:
Vancouver: Sarah Nurse (F, Tor.), Claire Thompson (D, Min.), Sophie Jaques (D, Min.), Emerance Maschmeyer (G, Ott.)...
