The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
Im convinved that Mac & even Barry got caught stuck in the 2000s & 2010s putting all their energy into facility fundraising (unecessary end zone reno for premium seating and Kellner Ctr) and got their doors blown off by NIL, trying to create an NIL prgm that kept directly paying players at arms...
Yes, Pavelski & Briere will be on the ice, but only for practice/development of current players. I don't believe they are able to recruit actively. Only the assistants can do that.
Knott, Peruzzi, Brandt will be the ones actually on the bench during games with Hastings as assistants.
Im sure...
The way I understand it, there are 3 direct assistants. And those assistants are the only ones able to actively recruit players not on the team (i.e. portal and jrs). Brandt replaces Murdoch, and Peruzzi replaces Oliver. Add in Knott and that is one hell of a coaching staff by itself...
Pavs, Brandt, Briere....this is a direct shot across the bow of the Weasels and Sparty with respect to OHL and USNDTP players.
I think kids, esp Fwds and G listen to Pavelski and Briere immediately over Narato and Nightengale.
But we shall see. Im certainly encouraged!
On the ole twitter box, it is amazing how quickly arrogant the rodents have become.....because they got a new head coach.
Larson is a solid hire, don't get me wrong. But the idea that he is some home run hire kinda makes me laugh. I didbt think he really did that much at St. Cloud the last few...
With hockey having a unique spot compared to the other sports being UA (i.e. the equipment is also part of the uniform) no way UW is letting tbe CCM contract expire without direct input/recommendations from Nate LaPoint, Hastings, Johnson and the Hockey Ops/GM.
The NC schedule is a little weak. Which honestly scared me in the past. Not so much now, but that early series vs Mankato is going to be huge. That and the holiday series.
Not knocking Robert Morris, but there is no reason we should be playing them over a Michigan Tech, St. Cloud or Minnesota...
WI has been a CCM school for a VERY long time. Something must have been just off with the relationship for them to switch. Either the cost was just getting out of control, compared to quality, or it was a preference for the Hastings coaching staff. Either way, it doesn't bother me. Those are the...
Schottenstein Ctr where OSU plays is a multipurpose. That's what got Oz fired as head coach. Scheduling conflict and they threw them into the old 1000 seat shell. He went ballistic.
Since the new recruiting cycle has opened, it was kinda silly how many guys from the USNDP/MI natives committed to Sparty. I mean I get it, but it was kinda rediculous.
I did hear a stat that less than 50% of commits from a new cycle actually play for those teams. Likely because they either...
Both are prob true. UW def had it come together at the right time and went on a heater.
Will be interesti g when roster is finally announced. I can't imagine it will be too long.
If anything, we have learned NPI rewards a strong schedule. Although I really dont think Dartmouth was as good as they appeared on paper.
If theu schedule CCHA/ECHA, it needs to be the top teams.
That being said, I just dont see why Miami is in the NCHC. It makes zero sense. St. THOMAS should...
It's almost August, no mention of Goalie Coach or roster announcements. I am acthally pretty amazed at how quiet it has been. Even Hastings has been super quiet. Head down, nose to the grindstone approach?
Wouldbt surprise me if Murdock isnt long at Shattuck. Outside of the ability for hos to maybe steer guys our way, he prob wants a USHL HC or Asst HC NCAA job which is a relatively plausoble scenario from the Goalie Coach. Who knows.
One question that's been sticking in my mind, and I know the staff is A LOT better at juggling this than us nitwits, but I am always wary of "verbal commits." In the pre-NIL/pre-COVID era a gentleman's agreement basically existed where a verbally committed player that hadn't signed an LOI was...
Echoes similar to what I just posted. In this era, there is no way UW football will compete for a nat'l champ, much less the playoffs. Alumni/boosters have no interest in pushing money to NIL, they'd rather have their name on a building. Consider the relatively easy schedule they have this...
They can be successful if left alone, but the problem under Alvarez/Mac was that they were ignored, and it showed. Hockey is by FAR the most successful sport at WI and it demands respect from the administration and AD for investment of resources and attention to drive public...
Great article by Lucas. Was never a fan of his on radio or in the booth, but he is a great writer. He certainly stressed the hockey side of things in that article. We can only hope. Odd that he made no mention of the Badger nat'l championship run or Hastings though. But I also get it. Johnson is...
Do you have a source for that quote? If he did say that, it's pretty telling. Esp considering how much the hire was poo-pooed by everyone. There are a lot of football people that are demanding 10 and 11 win seasons, and all they see is new AD's record at Nebraska. Which I get.
But that's an...
