UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Frustrating period for sure. Alfie needs to have the team just practice ripping pucks glove side until Boija remembers how to use that thing.

Hopefully Maine starts on time and can get to Parsons early and often tonight.

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Looks like Eduards Tralmaks made the 2026 Olympic team for Latvia. Kind of surprised he hasn't gotten a cup of coffee at the NHL level yet, but would love to see the Wings give him a look at some point down the stretch.

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

I think some of it has to do with the amount of new players in the lineup in front of him. There has been some serious adjusting and line shuffling all season for Barr to navigate and it hasn't entirely gone smoothly. The defensive ability of the forwards lost last year (Scott, Breen, Makar...

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Completely necessary non-conference shootout "win" to send the fans home unhappy.

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

I disagree that Boija was the problem, he made some really big saves to keep Maine in this game and salvage a tie, especially in OT.

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Clutch point shot by Djurasevic with the extra attacker. Tie game!

Hard to fault him when Lipinski screened the shot. Either block it or get out of the way.

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Miler made a really clutch save on a Gerrior breakaway in the final minute that really could have swung the momentum. Goes without saying but they need to stop giving Denver PP chances.

Have a feeling Barr will ride the hot hand again. If Boija's got his A-game back on there's plenty of reason to trust him.

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

One of the best road games I've seen Maine play in a long time. Great win!

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Great kill by Maine, whole bunch of blocked shots to make Boija's life easy. Would be great to get another one before the end of the period.

Really confused where that cross check was by Komarov, but he's in the box for a 5 minute major after a review.

Sully with a nice transition goal to make it 2-0

Maine Recruits: When Ashes Fall, Legends Rise

Looks like Masun Fleece is now committed to Maine. Formerly committed to Penn State. LINK

He said at the skate with the bears event he was about 50/50 on playing this past weekend so he's close.

Say what you want about Lindenwood, but Maine would have beaten most teams with how well they played this weekend.

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

I was actually quite impressive how well Maine responded to Lindenwood's attempts to play physical and not get rattled. How many times have we seen this group lose focus when challenged physically? They stayed composed and used those powerplays to really bury them, especially Poirier's goal late...

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Boija becomes the tenth Black Bears goalie to reach 40 career wins.

If Barr trusts him enough to give him a game this weekend I'm okay with it, but I wouldn't be surprised if he gets this weekend off up until the Denver series at least. Probably would be a good thing for him to get a full mental reset during the break.
