The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
I think Nate Benoit and Mike Souza are sort of kindred spirits. Benoit's career as a player and Souza's career as a coach have been far from what they hoped. In theory they each have two years to get on track....
Disappointing I'm sure to the Maine fans. But a sign of the times. Unlike the late 80's/early 90's BC pays better than Maine for hockey players.
Oh well, at least the youth hockey players in Orono won't have to worry about Conmy being rude to them.
Thrilled somebody is actually talking hockey.
Love the RIT guys. Probably too much to ask.
Most concerned about the goaltending. Would really like to see them grab one out of the portal even if its only for a year. Not impressed with Whale (why couldn't Jensen have backed into him in October?)...
I guess BU is the favorite, but you have to figure BC is in the mix. A better fit, and they have money to spend after being spurned by Sacha Boisvert. Imagine if the UNH guy goes to BC and the Eagles fall short again?
And since we have a show to do today, and considering some of the recent...
The following comment in no way is an attempt to take the current HC off the hook. The buck stops with the guy in the big chair....BUT...the lack of criticism of the rest of the staff is mind boggling. Hypocritical would be a more accurate word. The fans can't have it both ways. On the one hand...
I don't think UNH has the staff to put on a regional, at least to do it the right way. And with Metcalf gone they don't have anybody with a clue how to organize things. A UNH guy with a lot of pride and he worked his tail off,
IIRC it was the BC fans on the board that got on Ayers' case more than the Maine fans. (You can't spell playoff chokers without Ayers)
Which makes BC's underachieving with him on the staff so ironic.
Remember that well. Couldn't believe how much blood was on the ice. The following night he was clearly in pain. Sometimes if he played the puck he could only keep one hand on his stick. I know the Colin Shields shot you're talking about. Believe it or not, I had the opportunity to ask Ayers...
I can still see the goal he gave up to Metcalf. Somebody would later say "that shot couldn't break glass." And they were right. Still ended up in the back of the net.
But he was an absolute workhorse the following year. Played 41 of 42 games. UNH was trying to give away the national semifinal...
Well Chuck, since you interjected the Tiki Curse into this thread, I will add a Marcia Brady/Davy Jones reference,,,
Would Tiger Beat be asking for media credentials?
Not really sure why Ayers would be stunned. NOT making the Frozen Four has been more common in his years at BC.
12 years at BC, 3 FF's. No national titles.
In the dozen years prior to Ayers, the Eagles went to 6 FFs and won 3 National Championships.
Ayers participated in as many NC games in...
