University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

The deadline to opt-in for schools is June 15th. I'm super interesting in seeing which schools opt-in and which don't. It seems like there's a real mix of opinions out there. Most relevant to us, BC is automatically in as a member of the ACC. The Power 4 conferences all must participate.

University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

The three peat opponents seem to rotate every other year (2H1A then 1H2A) before swapping opponents. The schedule gets tricky since the southern schools seem to favor home and home weekends

I don't understand playing a conference game in Portland regardless of who it is. Those games matter so much and the Alfond is such an advantage. That said Maine is getting BU for 2 at home for the second year in a row. The Hockey East schedule always has quirks like that.

Lowell schedule dropped. Maine plays UML in Portland on December 10th. I don't love conference games in Portland and especially on a weeknight. EDIT: Looks like Lowell is another team Maine sees 3x next year.

BU was actually allegedly playing in Nashville that night. TSU seems to be dead.

BU's home schedule has been released. Maine @ BU February 6, 2026. That implies Maine plays BU twice at home and one on the road.

Big miss on my part! I just completely skipped over him. I wanted to keep it purely next season for now, but I may expand it once I have time

I put this together today to get a gauge on the talent coming into the conference. This is all purely from EliteProspects and the Sportsnet tracker. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1FRp5cdxr9xIKM3zXTXTFgcmGfQphdmnh6INthXnAbgE/edit?usp=sharing I'll update as signings are announced.

I was looking at that today for Hockey East specifically. As far as official commitments go, Providence got Jonathan Fauchon who was the QMJHL scoring leader. That's the biggest fish jumping into the pond. UNH is essentially rebuilt from the CHL. However, Maine has the most draft picks coming in...

University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

It's likely a combination of Maine gaining prominence again and the floodgates of CHL talent suddenly available. All teams are going to be better, but I think Maine has generally been one of the top Hockey East teams at recruiting the CHL talent. UML, Providence, and UNH also brought in a...

Maine Recruits: When Ashes Fall, Legends Rise

I would be surprised if he ends up here. While I think most of the high end picks will play NCAA, almost all of them will end up at UND, BU, BC, or Big 10

Something to consider. The portal is now open again for Mich. Tech. and Lindenwood players. Plus Harvard international players may be fair game, but that's yet to be seen.
