The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
And also big win for the NCAA’s gamble on the bracket with the potential and now reality of an all-eastern final four and only 2 flights for the whole tournament.
I always thought Dartmouth’s Thompson arena would be a perfect host for D3 final four. The only thing about it is I think their parking situation leaves a lot to be desired.
The NCAA started exploring neutral sites for a few reasons.
#1 Potential for better championship atmosphere and not playing in front of empty rink
#2 ability for casual fans to plan travel and lodging ahead of time
#3 Take the onus off a campus site having to do all the logistics in a...
Maybe originally there were no Western bids and right before the bid deadline, the NCAA committee asked the western schools to reconsider, and they decided to put in bids.
D3 hockey going to the Pairwise/NPI and moving away from the unpredictability and volatility of the committees and the “smoke-filled” room process is the best thing that has happened to the game in the last decade.

All I can say is that I know for a fact that SNC and Aurora have submitted bids to host the final...
I think they are there now. The second title last year cemented being mentioned in the same conversation as those schools you listed IMHO.
Few programs have accomplished more in the last 20 years that Hobart has, including some of the schools mentioned in that group you listed.
We've had a little taste of the golden years of this forum lately in this thread!
Brings back some fond memories where this used to be the place to find all the scores every night as well as hear first-hand accounts of games or the latest gossip.

No smokie room anymore. Oswego women needed to win that game to get in and they didn't. The NPI numbers make it very cut and dry and Oswego women's SOS ultimately hurt them in the end. The series with Manhattanville in particular sticks out.
Hobart certainly has ascended to the standard all programs are now chasing. The incredible run of success Coach Taylor has had is nothing short of remarkable.
I'm hoping NU will get its feet back underneath them in the new conference and perhaps Hobart will still make a trip out at some point...
Potential of Utica/St. Norbert quarterfinal on the men's side and already set Elmira/Plattsburgh first round on the women's side is the stuff March is made for.
I can't wait.
