The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
I entirely agree. Because the Cats were incapable of tying up the puck in the corner for the final 5-6 seconds, Colgate nearly sent the game into OT. Simply horrible fundamentals on the Cats’ part. And, ditto with the Cats three stupid attempts to score an ENG in the final minute leading to...
I like your #2 option, which you posited here a couple months ago, as UNH will be in need of a first-string goalie again next season. Maybe UNH can poach Lukas Swedin (from Stockholm, you know) from Bentley in the off-season, as Arizona State did last off-season with Bentley’s NCAA playoffs...
Excellent post, JB!
Before reading your post, I looked up Colgate’s schedule as I was surprised by how a good team they were in the game I watched at the Whitt on Sunday, and agreed probably a better team now than the overrated Dartmouth in the early season when Colgate lost 1-4 in Hanover. As...
And Colgate had not played in over three weeks, since December 6th, so I do not buy the “rust argument.” However, I do buy your “playing down to lesser teams mentality,” which I think goes back long before MS7 as head coach. And I think that this mentality occurs with other better teams also...
I can name several recent years in which we played superbly in January. Unfortunately, in none of those years did we continue to play well through February and March.
Welcome, FlagUp. At least you have your memories of the good ‘ole days, unlike poor HR.
Anyone notice that Dartmouth has lost four of their last five, which has not helped out NPI either. I forget who our poster was that predicted that the Big Green would be exposed as a fraud soon enough, but...
This numerical sequence appears backwards to me, but I am probably missing something.
At the moment, HEA only has one team in the NCAA’s, so if the regular season were to end right now and Yukon were to win the HEA tourney at the Garden, and Bentley were to win the Atlantic Hockey tourney...
Lucy has tricked Charlie Brown with her football once again. No apparent sense of urgency by UNH, although I was not there to assess. But I will be there tomorrow night.
Good recall, Chuck. Bobby Miller is UNH all-time, single-season assists and points leader with 59 and 89 in 1976/77, with many of those assists likely going to Ralph Cox (the last player dropped from the 1980 Olympic team) who tallied 40 goals that season, second only to his 44 in 1978/79...
Great memories of Berenson’s Wolverines and Umile’s Wildcats competing for the most consecutive years in the NCAA’s (I forget the numbers, but both teams in the teens, I think?).
Ha, ha, and the No Longer Dead Wings were a more fun team to watch the last two games on the NHL channel than were the Bruins on NESN. Agree that the No Longer Dead wings are “still very young team,” except for “Old Man” Van Riemsdyk.
As for UNH, did we beat Trey Augustine in the first game...
Good for Alex!
Meanwhile, Angus Crookshank, with 29 NHL games played, has leapfrogged Darren Haydar (23), Paul Thompson (24), and Cap Raeder (28) into a tie with Gordie Clark in total NHL/WHA games played for 34th place in UNH alums. Next up are Chris Winnes in 33rd place with 33 NHL games...
Agree that we must sweep Colgate, for us and for HEA OOC record overall. A rising tide needed to raise all the HEA ships, which have been taking on too much water because of leaky defense this season.
Ha, ha, Sparkee. Of course, most of the regulars here know that my post was in jest. At the beginning of the season, both Chuck and I predicted 20 wins for this season, which is certainly looking more possible now than before our trip to Orono. But, rather than George Costanza, we are more...
Yup. All that we need to do is win two games, the MBPBEGAM game in Orono and another one somewhere else 🙂
Of course, I could be more optimistic that we will have home ice for MBPBEGAM game, win, and and then beat PC in their barn.
I do not think that any of these polls matter a Whitt (heh, heh), and I pay them zero attention. I think all that matters is the almighty NPI ranking, and in that Dartmouth is no longer #1, nor did Michigan State remain #1 after we upset them at the beginning of the season. And now Maine is...
