The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
Next 5 released:
F Charlie Cerrato, Penn State
F TJ Hughes, Michigan
F Danny Nelson, Notre Dame
F Cole Knuble, Notre Dame
D Eric Pohlkamp, Denver
Also the “2 per conference” has been lowered to 1
I’m guessing they’re mostly done with B1G players except maybe a goalie? maybe next 5 we get a...
05 F Sam McCue commits to Bowling Green. Currently Brantford Bulldogs, previously played in Peterborough, Owen Sound, and Flint. One of those guys teams trade for because he’s a hard working two-way forward that can score. 2024 Leafs 7th round pick in his D+1 year, Toronto’s rights will extend...
to give some perspective on how teams are doing early in the CHL season... the CHL itself posts a top 10 every week of all the leagues. Each leagues have their own power rankings (different from overall standings) but the CHL does the cross-league one.
This weeks CHL top 10:
Brantford Bulldogs...
Historic stuff in the WHL today.
For the first time since Jan 8th 2014 the Saskatoon Blades and Prince Albert Raiders have completed a trade. It’s a depth 06 defenseman for a conditional 6th round pick, a nothing trade, but this is like if Michigan State and Michigan made a trade (in a...
I will say that Lindenwood is also sneaky good. Last year they spooked Wisconsin with a win and OTL in their barn to start the season and it looked like the Badgers never recovered their composure for the rest of it. Lions also beat Omaha and Notre Dame, plus tied Augustana and an OTL v St...
I’m not surprised partially because Hildebrand is a freshman who is cementing himself, LeGall probably sees that and knows if he wants a good shot at a starter spot he should head elsewhere. Everett is also very very good and has the biggest prize for this year’s recruiting war, he almost...
CHL standouts from last night:
Jaden Lipinski (Maine) with his second goal and another assist, also good faceoff numbers. The assist on his first goal came from Jérémy Langlois, who missed all of last season rehabbing an injury he suffered to end his QMJHL career in 2024. This weekend was the...
He is known to run hot. Hair color matches the temper, also likely comes from being smaller than everyone. He has to fight for every inch more than others. I’d imagine he had a target on his back after the night before
Love to see Langlois playing! I saw the assist, how did he look outside of that?
this is incorrect unless you mean during the year, which isn't a change afaik. it's now the same thing as going back to the USHL in college, which many players do. two players planned to do this- Tyson Jugnauth left Wisconsin and was planning to transfer to Michigan State, but got his ELC with...
09 F Cole Hajt commits to Princeton, plays for the Prince George Cougars
Most of the Ivy schools have prior commits that went to the CHL more than a bunch of commits from in the CHL, but more at trickling in. Was always going to be the long play. The earliest arrival that wasn't committed and...
it’s a veeeery small window. if you get paid roughly no more than $70k you can get probably 2 years of eligibility. there’s maybe 6 of them
think about it this way- if the rule change happened a year earlier, these guys would’ve been freshman last year. people have called it not punishing...
Tonight was a fun night of hockey!
Some standout CHL performances:
I think we can give the award for best NCAA debut for a former CHL skater to Maine's Justin Poirier. He's the only player who left the QMJHL before it was his overage season for college, and all this kid does is score oodles...
in agreement here, i liked what i saw from both at times but Elliott's calm helped. I do think the addition of Gill made a significant difference though- he was the guy that made plays connect and that extra layer of cohesion that turned the competent flashes shown last week into dangerous...
Former QMJHL player and isles 5th round pick in 2023 Justin Gill has been cleared and will make his debut for Merrimack tonight. Split time in Bridgeport and Worchester last year. very very good pickup
08 F Caelan Joudrey commits to Quinnipiac, playing for Wenatchee Wild in the WHL
08 G...
Academic eligibility rules still apply, I don't know of any legal challenges to it or plans on changing it but I don't follow that side of things very intently. If anyone knows more about it, feel free to chime in.
The main issue here I think it's based on differences in the academic systems...
CHL players who were named in weekly honors this past week: (meant to list earlier when all of them were released but forgot)
Calem Mangone, LSSU, CCHA Rookie of the Week
Austin Elliott, UML, Hockey East Goaltender of the Week
Marshall Finnie, Niagara, AHA Rookie of the Week
Matthew Mayich...
yea all of these are understandable and expected, he looks pretty good for his first few games but absolutely some speed bumps. he’s a quick learner though and that sort of talent often makes learning parts of the game that usually take a few years take way less time- Macklin Celebrini certainly...
this is correct, and 18 might be right if you count the ATOs after a junior season finishes, but those are barely anything- maybe 2 or 3 games and often with little ice time. if we are talking significant pro time, it's maybe 5? there's a salary threshold for them and they go through eligibility...
