UMass Lowell 2026-2027: Is this the new Norm?

I think you are pretty much right. Hakstol doesn't have much time to get up to speed. However, as its been stated, "nothing as old as your old job when starting a new one". I suspect he's been immersing himself in game footage, talking with the players, esp C and AC's. Will be an interesting series if I can figure out some way to watch it.
Assuming you don't have ESPN+, there are some other sites that should have the game - I DMd you

It's been a thing for a few years. But I will say, they don't exactly advertise college hockey from the home interface (in my experience)

pro tip: i bookmark the espn+ "hockey" dashboard since it will get you nhl, womens ncaa, and mens ncaa live streams, plus quick links to each individual league live games.

Seems like a good idea. Wish they had that option on streaming devices, or maybe I just can't find it
not really, but adding ncaa men's hockey to your 'following' might boost it in the list. id say specific colleges but ive found they only separate basketball and football, the rest of the sports are all lumped into "college sports". you'd think theyd have figured out a competent following list by now but alas

i came into this at 3-0 so i thought it was a great game... :)

I like parts of what I see. I hope this team learns into being more solid and maybe put together a run at the NCAAs. ASU goalie won this one over the course of the game and I'm not sold on Elliot.

You know its funny that people were talking about Norm's system, i saw flashes of scenarios that nearly played into the 2012-2015 or so counter attacking that was so much fun but i doubt we have the legs or alertness for that kind of play. I dunno.

I would like to see a bit more quick plays in the offensive zone in towards the goal but i think that's always been my complaint on modern era hockey at this level.

----

Gut-check night tomorrow. I dunno, not the record i want but i'm ok-ish with thing sso far.

The first ten minutes were tough to watch. Felt ASU was flying high with a new coach and that baggage finally behind them and Lowell didn’t seem ready for it. They played pretty well the rest of the way until late in the 3rd when ASU took control again and got the 5th goal to put the game away.

As I was leaving, I heard a guy sitting behind me say “every time I come, they lose”.

First period aside they kept it competitive and entertaining so hopefully the play continues to get better.

I noted a few people during my upperclass years that would say "any time I go, they lose" or something along those lines when I asked if they were going to that weekend's game(s).

Seems to be an all-too-common remark these days.

I also wouldn't mind seeing Moore (or maybe even Goich) get some starts. It wasn't too long ago when Pavicich had to start a lot more games than anyone probably anticipated. He also did a lot worse than I'm sure anyone anticipated.

If you're a big advanced stats guy, Elliott is already at -2.34 xGa+. He was -8.65 last year.

I know that wasn't at me but i haven't really bought into the xG phenomenon that has crossed sports yet (since research stat methodology is my job i figured I'd say something). its cute and can be mildly informative but i'm sure it can whiff too. I won't say much else because i stay away from sports analytics since i spend enough time doing math during the day job. I just want to think of craft beer, broomball, vapid entertainment on youtube, and my life long crippling addition to politics. I have met a few people who work for our consulted with pro sports teams.

edit: I also won't put my stamp on things until i see how they work. I've seen enough of these where they just put things into a regression blender in R or python and then serve the goop.
