RPI 2026 Off-Season: Please Pardon Our Appearance As We Upgrade This Area

Re: tony/troy's comment on th Mayor's Cup moving to Glens Falls and 'being preempted' on other occasions... If this game is more about hyping the arena in Albany than anything else maybe it's time to just let it drift away.

Just saw we are going to RIT for a pair in october. I will likely make that trip as my son is an RIT grad who worked closely with their program.

That would be Friday & Saturday Oct. 23 & 24 both at 7:05 P.M. Added bonus for anyone interested is that the football team is at UR on the Saturday for a noon start.

Something like that even has my attention despite no longer spending money or traveling to away game all that much since our infamous two year fan ban. These days it is pretty much limited to springtime baseball away games that are within an hour or so from my home. Guess I never really forgot being told that I was an "external spectator who needs to be socially separated" and apparently never will.

Nonetheless, there are no shortages of reasonably priced AIRBNB or VRBO multi bedroom and multi bathroom cottages and/or cabins no more than 10 or so miles outside that crummy city literally within walking distance to the shores of Lake Ontario which is quite nice. Taking walks along that lake in the fall may be enough for even me to make an exception and spend a Friday to Sunday weekend there.

For what it's worth, the Thunder game experience is solid. They do a nice job getting the crowd into it and keeping the energy level up even if the Thunder are down 4-1. Someone from HFH could scout and maybe get some ideas for improving the HFH "fan experience." HM arena is certainly showing its age, but with the $4 beer specials and the crowd pretty into it, it's a decent night of hockey.
