That would be Friday & Saturday Oct. 23 & 24 both at 7:05 P.M. Added bonus for anyone interested is that the football team is at UR on the Saturday for a noon start.Just saw we are going to RIT for a pair in october. I will likely make that trip as my son is an RIT grad who worked closely with their program.
I’ll be going as well. That should be a fun weekend of hockey.Just saw we are going to RIT for a pair in october. I will likely make that trip as my son is an RIT grad who worked closely with their program.
For what it's worth, the Thunder game experience is solid. They do a nice job getting the crowd into it and keeping the energy level up even if the Thunder are down 4-1. Someone from HFH could scout and maybe get some ideas for improving the HFH "fan experience." HM arena is certainly showing its age, but with the $4 beer specials and the crowd pretty into it, it's a decent night of hockey.Re: tony/troy's comment on th Mayor's Cup moving to Glens Falls and 'being preempted' on other occasions... If this game is more about hyping the arena in Albany than anything else maybe it's time to just let it drift away.
All true, esp, regarding the fan experience. It is the perfect minor league rink -- all seats are on top of the ice. They've sold out nearly ALL of their home games the last few seasons....if anyone at HFH was interested in such enthusiasm, they'd do well to study the operation. The best part of th eoff-ice production is the PA announcer Dan Miner and his legendary billowing voice announcer work...we should be so lucky to have such energy. Instead we get B-side hair band riffs and continuous clock malfunctions. For what it's worth, the Thunder game experience is solid. So with these tickets going on sale in a little over a week, one has to wonder if the RPI season ticket holders will receive Mayor's Cup game vouchers as in year's past or will we fend for ourselves like the general public ? Of course, if we had our renewal applications, then we'd know the answer to this !!Mayor's Cup moving to Glens Falls -- Jan. 23, 2027

I agree with you on the musical interludes, especially when they alternate with the pep band--no clue you'd pay royalties to pipe in music while the band is sitting there. And I'll agree the in game experience at HFH needs a complete review, but I'm a bit of a old curmudgeon on PA announcers. I will take boring over what I experienced living in Minnesota, where the PA announcers in the old WCHA annoyingly tried to one-up each other with various self-serving riffs. Everybody was trying to be the next Ray Clay. All true, esp, regarding the fan experience. It is the perfect minor league rink -- all seats are on top of the ice. I think you can infer the answer is "no" based on the last sentence of the RPI announcement, which notes that the tickets are being sold by the arena beginning on July 1: https://rpiathletics.com/news/2026/...027-mayors-cup-at-harding-mazzotti-arena.aspxSo with these tickets going on sale in a little over a week, one has to wonder if the RPI season ticket holders will receive Mayor's Cup game vouchers as in year's past or will we fend for ourselves like the general public ? Don't you dare the defile golden booming baritone that is Dan Miner ! Shameful!! I believe it informally refers to the three mayors: Albany, Schenectady, and Troy. At least all three are among the on-ice dignitaries at the trophy presentation/puck drop over the years (and some of the County Execs have gotten involved--Albany County owns the MVP).Doesn't the word Mayor in Mayor's Cup refer to Albany' mayor? It can't Troy and Schenectady mayors because it is not Mayors' Cup. If so, it doesn't make sense to me for it not to be in Albany.
