Graham Platner on the John Stewart podcast

I wish Jon would shut up and let Platner speak more in depth.

"We democratized our politics but we never democratized our economy" is America's mission statement for the next century. We have work to do.

I like Platner's pragmatism, knowing we must be ready on day one with all the plans and decisions, ready to go. Obama lost the thread and dawdled. We have to be in a full court press from the instant we have power, never wavering, always accelerating, always increasing f=ma.

It's weird to hear the VBNMW crowd whispering that they will vote for Collins instead of Platner. These are the same people who voted for Unenrolled Angus King instead of the Democratic candidates in 2018 and 2024, and who castigated Bernie for having the temerity to be Unenrolled. And then lecture people on the left to vote for their GOP-Lite candidate.

Almost as if there was something different behind their motivations...

Given a choice between a Socialist and a Nazi the centrists will pick the Nazi every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Wanna name some names? Or are you just rambling, Drew?

The VBNMW crowd on here are not centrists…pragmatists and realists, claro, but not centrists.

People saying they’ll vote for Collins over Platner are, by definition, not VBNMW. Actions speak louder than words…

I know we had some people on here say they didn’t like Platner, based on his Nazi stuff. Not sure if that extended to the general election, or if it was just the primary. Other than Drew.

Over in Michigan, the el-Sayed camp is leaning hard into Mills' exit from the ME race. Unfortunately for him, AIPAC and Bloomfield/Birmingham money are much harder to defeat.

This is where I think Kepler gets it wrong. It’s not Centrist versus Left, it’s rich versus poor, and there are plenty of rich (social) progressives who vote for the Democrat who is not pounding the drum to raise taxes on the rich.

New Hampshire senator today says he thinks able bodied senior citizens on medicare should have work requirements.

I hope old crusty cunt susan goes on record to support this.

and no, being in congress doesn't count

Of course the reality is Rich vs Poor. That is why Right vs Left and Center vs Left are continually, and deliberately, fostered by the Rich. Divide et impera. The Left has the solution (steep progressive taxation and democratization of basic human needs). That's why they must be constantly slandered and sabotaged. Otherwise we would all unite against our common enemy.

When the Right says "the Left hates success" and when the Center says "the Left are purists" they are regurgitating talking points workshopped by the Rich to keep the search light away from the real problem.

When in doubt, just lie. No doubt the GOP Congress will let it slide.

The Trump administration is arguing that the war in Iran has already ended because of the ceasefire that began in early April, an interpretation that would allow the White House to avoid the need to seek congressional approval.

The statement furthers an argument laid out by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth during testimony in the Senate earlier Thursday, when he said the ceasefire effectively paused the war. Under that rationale, the administration has not yet met the requirement mandated by a 1973 law to seek formal approval from Congress for military action that extends beyond 60 days.

Of the remaining semi-regular posters on the Cafe, we're all united, even ticap. No way someone can spend countless hours campaigning for a political candidate in Kamala Harris and not be VBNMW. No way Kamala Harris is the gold standard of the Left, and I remember arguing on here that Kamala Harris was more left than people were giving her credit for. If you want to be Jack Nicholson on that wall, doing the dirty work for us lazy, soft, bandwagon folks, I say knock 'em dead, ticap. If I'm that MAGA in a blue hat, I want you to be Platner and the Technicolor Democrats.

? I don't understand this post. I was not talking about the Cafe, I was talking about the country.

I have no issue with you or anybody here. If you have an issue with me, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
