Wisconsin Hockey 25-26 Hastings Year 3 - Turning the Corner?

He must not have liked the we > me is the only thing I can see.... Or school as Tim put it. Because he isn't ready. Bring in someone who wants to be here.

This does suck and makes zero sense. Monty looked good when he got some space and was able to skate but he wasn't strong on the puck and got knocked around too easily. He needs to mature and add weight/strength and will get eaten alive at the next level until that happens.

Isnt there some rumors of Porier from Maine? Would be a nice addition. Also, heard that he has had hip surgery. Do not know if that is true or not.

Sounds like Poirier might have been a bad "culture fit" based on what's being discussed in the Maine thread. I think it's pretty clear that you need to be disciplined and play a 200' game or you're not getting ice time for Hastings.

Good news to me is that Idzan isn't in the portal yet and could make a big jump next season. Maybe he needs to work on discipline and being a more complete player on both ends of the ice but I'd assume that he's committed to the work if he decides to stay.

Montgomery would not have been on my bingo card as an early signing. He isnt ready and this will give him added AHL or ECHL time. I agree with the sentiment that maybe this is a school isnt right for him decision. Without going into details or naming names, I know for a fact that some of our early signings over the years have been directly school related.

My brain remined me that Buckberger and Fink went pro, 2 former Granato recruits who bailed on Hastings. One can only imagine how the last 3 years would have gone without a coaching change.

He plays a 200' game and made great progress on both sides of the puck. With 13 Freshman/newcomers (9 from CHL) and a really weak group of seniors, the locker room was a disaster this past yr. People thought his demeanor (off-ice, on bench, between plays) was low energy and "not the Maine style of grind." I think he works hard, has excellent hockey sense and hands, and is really really strong for his size. He was over a goal per game scorer at the mid-season mark (even with some off games) and can be better. His shot and wind up and torque is insane- so not sure what the hip injury says about future performance..

Wisco and B10 could handle him fine. Barr couldn't fit him into the mold he wanted, but lots of coaches wouldn't have a problem. If he has a 35 goal season though, that could bring out the primadonna thing (more easily than in others). If he is healed- you want this kid.
