UMass Lowell 2025-2026: Youth will be served

My guess is Jones will play another year of junior. He had a tough season with Moose Jaw. If nothing else changes Moore will join Elliott and Goich.
Makes sense, thanks. Elite Prospects has him as coming in next year, but yeah, with .862 this year, juniors probably is the better idea

With all that's going on with the transfer portal and things, it really is confusing to see how these teams put their rosters and recruiting together. Maine had 8 players join the portal and had 5 seniors. They have 7 incoming players through the portal while still having 35 commits on their list. I know Heisenberg doesn't have all their incoming years, but they do have 5 commits that will turn 21 before the first game of the upcoming season (2005 birthyears) and another 5 that would turn 21 during the 2026/2027 season.

I want to clarify, I'm not complaining about their ages. I'm just trying to understand how these coaches fill out rosters.

While it sucks to lose the players we did (especially the brothers), I'm honestly surprised we only had 6 players enter the portal. I guess that speaks to the team still having faith in Bazin.
No, I think it's better sometimes to stay with a short thing instead of going someplace and rot on the in the stands

Hi all, I posted the following report on Moore over on the college hockey discord server in response to a question from a Lowell person, thought I'd share it here as well.

Moore had a great freshman year filling in for an injured Christian Stoever. He played pretty well his sophomore year. This past year he struggled early, went on an absolute heater to start the new year but then struggled again at the end. It was bad enough that Willy started the 3rd goalie, Tyler Palmer, to open the playoff series up at Tech. Jacob Steinman from the Q was looking pretty good until he went down for the last month of the season so it was looking like this upcoming season Willy was going with Steinman as the 1A and Moore as the 1B which is probably what prompted the move. I think he'll do well for you, a change in scenery will help him. He's a fantastic locker room guy and he'll be missed here.

Moore has a ton of upside and we all wish him the best. We'll be keeping an eye on him...

Thanks for this. We have a third netminder on our roster (Goich) but he never played last year, so I'll give him credit for coming back for his upcoming sophomore year. But I think that Moore and Elliot will be fighting it out for the starting spot here, the only difference is that Bazin doesn't always have a #1, he'll play both unless/until he finds someone that really stands out (usually about the half way mark of the season).
