Maine Black Bears 2026 Offseason: Missing Out on Mistlebacher

If I remember correctly Stockfish was a BIG dude - and we could use some size. Additionally would fit the build of us taking transfers from smaller universities that we played in non conference games since Barr has been there. Bentley transfers / Mitton from Colgate....
He's 6'4, 216 lbs. So definitely a big boy. I think he would be a great addition, and it does follow the trend that Ive also noticed, like you said.

UNH has some nice portal pickups. I really wanted Svartstrom
I'm not sure he fits the mold we need here..big dude, has some scoring touch but got huge minutes on a terrible team in a weak conference. Let's see if we see some movement today ;)

Van Tassell on the other hand was a good pickup. UNH seems to want to stock up on big bodies so they can play their boring ass trap and hopefully submit opponents to death. Won't work against fast breakout teams.

You may be right, but how many times did we ask for a big dude with some scoring touch this past season.

Whats the deal on tampering before the portal opens. Is it a free for all? or are their actually rules? Can advisors approach other programs, can the players before the portal opens? Seems funny guys sign on the first day.
I think at this point it's mostly player agents reaching out to programs with more of a wink-wink-nod-nod "we'll come if you have a spot open" kind of handshake agreement until they can actually enter.
