The proposal eliminates the ability for athletes to regain seasons of eligibility through redshirts (even for medical reasons) and waivers.

Potentially big changes coming to college sports if this gets approved. Would move to 5 total years of eligibility starting at age 19 or HS graduation (whichever is earliest). Also eliminates RS years.
This could have major repercussions on hockey where a lot of players don’t start ar 18 or even 19. Instead going to juniors for a few years. From my interpretation of the rule, they would in essence lose years of eligibility. No one over the age of 24 would theoretically be eligible to play.
We will see how this shakes out Charlie Baker and co. In the NCAA admin.
