UNH Hockey Off Season Thread 2026

Yeah, you never really know with those AHA transfers. I've seen quite a few come over and have massive drops in productivity, however, Trevor Hoskin was an exception this year for Merrimack. He lead the Niagara Purple Eagles in scoring with 39 points in 36 games as a 20-year-old freshman and won AHA Rookie of the Year, then this year with MC as a sophomore, had 35 points in 34 games, tied for second on the team.
Luis Lidner was also a nice contributor on some very bad (and one decent) UNH teams after transferring from AIC.

603 Challenge goes from today through Friday. I was looking at athletics and saw you can donate to the mens hockey team under “Friends of Men’s Hockey”. Theres also another one for a memorial scholarship.

I’m wondering though - what does the “Friends of Men’s Hockey” represent? We all know the FoH is gone, so where does this money actually go?

Perhaps the money goes to certain aspects of what the FoH did with regard to raising money (like recruiting costs, etc) without the group physically existing anymore…

Curious if anyone has insight on this.

Did anyone notice that former UNH president Joan Leitzel (1996-2002) passed on March 5, 2026? She was UNH president for three Cats’ FF appearances but did not know much about hockey before she arrived at UNH from stops at Nebraska and Ohio State where she was a football fan. So she hired Charlie Holt to teach her about hockey before he passed in 2000. Unfortunately, she pronounced Dick’s last name as “U-meal” from the Zamboni that she rode around the rink as part of the team’s send off to St Paul in April 2002.

Correct me if I'm wrong Snively but I think I remember her addressing the UNH fans in St. Paul in 2002

I think that you are correct, Felger. Maybe she flew out with the team?

Also, my guess is that she only mispronounced Dick’s last name that one time. Maybe nervous while riding on the Zamboni?

Read earlier today that Providence just dropped '06 winger Kolin Sisson and '07 D-man Marco Senerchia. Both of them are RI natives.

As a 19 year old, Sisson has 57 points (21-36-57) in 59 games in the USHL (split between Chicago and Fargo). Divver says Providence wanted him to stay in juniors for one more year, but I guess he thought otherwise... Fairly impressive for a 19 YO in the USHL.

Senerchia has 22 points (4-18-22) as an 18 year old in his rookie USHL season.

Both would be solid grabs for UNH. I imagine they will get heavy interest across Hockey East.

What a shame that UNH apparently has no one leading the Men's Hockey program to make themselves available to answer important questions like this ...

Story airing on WMUR tonight at 6. Congrats to Dr. Fortney! Will never forget that NoDak goal with 0.3 seconds left to send it to OT.

(y) Probably the last "great" moment in UNH hockey history

Potentially big changes coming to college sports if this gets approved. Would move to 5 total years of eligibility starting at age 19 or HS graduation (whichever is earliest). Also eliminates RS years.

This could have major repercussions on hockey where a lot of players don’t start ar 18 or even 19. Instead going to juniors for a few years. From my interpretation of the rule, they would in essence lose years of eligibility. No one over the age of 24 would theoretically be eligible to play.

We will see how this shakes out Charlie Baker and co. In the NCAA admin.

The NCAA will likely lose in court on constitutional grounds. How is age relevant to the equation? I don't know if the US Supreme Court has already ruled on the constitutionality of the age 26 limit on eligibility but there's a legit constitutional argument to be made. A 38 year old person can begin college and study but not play sports? What's the rationale? I could see there being health concerns for a 72 year old college student but a 27 year old?

Earlier this week, mankind finally visited the dark side of the Moon. Today, here I am agreeing 100% with potty. Strange times, these ...

Impressive for Dr. Fortney is the amount of scrolling you have to do to find his Elite Prospects page when googling his name.
