He really is a self absorbed asshole. I am not really sure why democrats keep trying to court him, he repeatedly stated that Harris would be no better than Trump in the days leading up to the election. He does the left no favors.

And also fuck him for shocking his dog for getting up off a bed.

Semi-professional Twitch streamer/influencer who lives in a $3m house in Hollywood would be an automatic "Fuck Off" for me even before the dog thing, but what do I know? I assume they keep trying to court him because he's Cenk Uygur's nephew and presumably has a large Twitch following of young men. He's also highly critical of Israel and Zionism, which jives with the al Sayed campaign's platform. He's basically a left-wing Joe Rogan.

Speaking as a lecturer at comm colleges in OR and MD over the years, this is the minimum of what every state should do.

90% of kids who go to 4 year should do the first 2 at CC living at home.

Can you elaborate on the significance of this? Are they rural / poor / Thumper / red? What do you think it indicates? Return of white blue collar? Boomerang of brown blue collar?

It appears that, except for 2008 for Marathon and Jefferson, the repubs have carried those counties for president since at least 2000. Jefferson went blue in 1964, 1996, and 2008. Marathon has gone more often in the past but only that one time since 2000. And Sheboygan last went blue for prez in 1996. So them going blue for much of anything seems to be a big swing.

Trump took Sheboygan Co with 57% in 2024. Marathon he had almost 59%. Jefferson he had 57%. Each county is also 80%+ white non hispanic

If I had go back and do it all over again without my parents' financial support for tuition and housing, that's exactly what I would do. Although I bet I wouldn't be an MTU grad for the 4-year.

Also, side question since you've done it. My impression is that anyone with Master's degree can lecture or be a so-called "Professor of Practice" and teach college classes in their field of expertise. Is that accurate?

They all have different rules. In my case, while I have an MA, it is not in either of the disciplines I taught. However, I was not the principal lecturer -- I was a guest lecturer on topics the main lecturer wanted to cover but didn't have as much background on.

i.e., my name was on the syllabus but not in the college catalog.

As I have said before, the curiosity and work ethic of the community college students I taught was equal to my Cornell undergrad peers and far superior to the Stanford undergrads I TA'ed in grad school. They were older, more serious, had more skin in the game. If I ran the world, tier 1 university and community college would have relegation/promotion, with the worst/best 25% flipping matriculation each semester. I never once met a dumb or lazy community college student. Would that I could say the same for the universities I attended.
