2026 Winter Olympics

I'm sure we'll be posting how our favorite players will be doing but an article I'm sharing the link to depicts the sad state of the incomplete arena.
Perhaps from this point forward the Olympic Committee should only pick sites with existing venues?

There was some discussion of this in early January in the "Wisconsin thread" - including the info that the ice itself is not only not "Olympic size", it isn't even NHL size (though that was maybe the case last time, as well ). But a more recent update on the problems is good, is timely.

(The rink in Milan is reportedly "60.0 x 26.0 meters, or approximately 196.85 ft. x 85.3 ft".)

Olympic tournaments haven't used Olympic size ice in ages.

With the exception of a few games, the women's tournament is not being played in this unfinished arena.

Looks like everything is on the USA network, so I can indeed DVR. The question is will I allow myself to see the results on Twitter before I watch? I wonder if the DVR will allow me to set up a program and record every game as a series vs setting it to record each game individually.

Some games on USA, all games streamed on Peacock. And looking at the schedule listings at nbcolympics.com, at least for tomorrow, the USA telecast of the Canada game is delayed by a half-hour from the Peacock stream (?). That's odd.

(Czechia vs US - I hate it when it's Wisconsin players vs Wisconsin player(s). Worse when it's US vs Canada, of course.)

I hope somewhere there's the TOI so we can look at to see who played how many minutes.

Last night I set up the DVR to record the women's hockey game on USA and it's actually recording all the Olympics on the USA channel. I guess I'll have to do a lot of deleting. I also don't know how much I'm actually going to get to watch this weekend because Badger girls play two afternoon games and we're going to the men's game on Friday as well and I've got the 1-hour drive one way to and from the rink.

Here is the box score from the 'official' (?) web site, and it has ice time. (I went to look because of TDM's tweet that said Harvey and Laila led the team today.)

Ohio State's Joy Dunne looked good today and had her first Olympic Gold.
And Murphy was being Murphy Lol! A lot of chirping and ready to get physical. I just hope she can rein in her usual tendencies and not commit any costly penalties! 😁

Czechia vs Switzerland in the new 'not finished' arena: during the game, there were a half-dozen construction workers in bright vests and hardhats down along the glass enjoying the game. LOL

(The ice and seating 'bowl' looked A-OK on TV, FWIW.)

The whole Group A preliminary round isn't all that exciting since all the teams are thru to the quarter finals. It was surprising they postponed the Canadian vs. Finland game since no one will be eliminated because of a loss.

I don't think they should have postponed it. Play who you can or forfeit. Vaughn is skiing with a tore up knee and a brace. That is called the agony of defeat.
The decision as I understood it was to keep the virus contained. Even though a number of players seemed healthy it could be incubating in them prior to symptoms and could spread.
