Sanders on Brian Tyler Cohen yesterday. He was visibly both angry and deeply sad. But still looking ahead. Still not done fighting.

He has been fighting harder, longer, than many of us have been alive. He has the credibility for us to pause with our own narratives and listen.

This man could have been President of the United States. We were that close to being a good country again.

My god, Stewart was devastating. That is the best he has done in in 20 years.

I hate conspiracy theories, but I can tell shit from Shinola. The odds that this is ineptitude have gotten longer every year, and we are now at 45 years. When the billionaires stole our government, they overtly took over the GOP. That's been obvious since the Orange County Chamber of Commerce groomed Reagan as the aw shucks mask of oligarchy. But, they also surreptitiously infiltrated the Democrats. There have been Democrats here and there in the past it was an open secret were tools of the rich stealing from us, most recently Delaney, Manchin, McCaskill, Booker. These people acted in the same play as the GOP. Their assigned role was the Washington Generals). Paid to lay down.

But now I am starting to believe the Democratic party writ large is that role. As an institution. Not as edgy rhetoric, but for real. A second side of the same coin.

And what does that leave us, you and me? If we don't have a political party and violence merely replaces one group of thugs with another and populism is the gorilla id of Kill The Other masquerding as political praxis and the Left has been gelded by clever divide and conquer social fracturing, what is there in the last 2500 of political theory, from Aristotle to Machiavelli to Locke to Marx to Rawls, to suggest we have any way to have a government reflecting the will and interests of the people, rather than just the rich?

A new approach is needed and I don't believe it exists yet, even in germination. I don't think even the seeds of it exist in any mind, yet, and we are in for a Seldon-like era of barbarism until, because the wheel never stops turning, the next liberation is wrought by events and forces and individual geniuses. I think we are in for a Dark Age.

Perhaps the shutdown was about the friends we made along the way...
No you morons, this literally means the fight is over and you fucking lost. Even in a broken Democracy like the UK the party leaders have enough integrity to resign after a defeat. These fucking dinosaurs cling to power like barnacles on the side of a boat. Resign.

Don't even know why I am even mad. I knew they were going to cave. Schumer is right that he was lucky to get them past the election. And he had this collection of "not up for reelection" moderate Republicans just chomping at the bit to reopen the Government.

I hope they all enjoy Trump's third term. It should be great. I can now negotiate my own Health Insurance rates.

That's basically a THCA ban, given the "hemp-derived" language. THCA drinks are sold in a lot of red states where pot isn't legal as a gray area, often in the same store or gas station people buy liquor from.

Fighting so hard he didnt oppose unanimous consent...

I love Bernie but he is still the guy who voted for Marco Rubio.

Sigh. If Bernie isn't even enough for you then good luck ever getting a girl.

It would appear our roles have swapped.

The House will reconvene tomorrow. Because airline travel is still a nightmare, many are returning to the Capitol via other means. Republican Representative Derrick Van Orden is making the 16-hour drive from Wisconsin. I wonder how representatives from further west are going to cope.

As long as the bill isn't signed by 10AM Thursday...

No Bernie is one of the few I donated to...I am just saying he has issues too. He is awesome at speaking on camera and to an audience but he makes some real boneheaded decisions sometimes.

I can call out bad decisions by people I like this is not a cult.

Don't forget Bernie was also fairly cozy with the gun lobby before 2016, because it suited him politically in predominately rural Vermont, as well as one of his state's employers (Century Arms).

No one's perfect.

Not trying to exaggerate but I have the same feeling I had following both of Orange Droolius' election wins. I have no desire to scour through even Bluesky today.
