No kidding, especially in the AL where the three wild card teams are currently the Yankees, Boston and Seattle. And also where you could potentially have a wild card round of Yankees, Red Sox and Astros (granted the Mariners are probably not catching the Astros for the AL West title).
 
Harris' idea is evidently to copy Yzerman and trade for bottom tier roster spots, in baseball being bullpen arms that are thrown at the wall to see what sticks.
 
Mets significantly upgraded their bullpen and CF without trading anyone of value. We moved 11 middle to low tier guys who either once weres or never weres, and whose biggest impact on the big club would be forcing roster casualty problems down the line. In return, we got three great pen arms and the CF we have needed.

David Stearns is a smart man.
