No, as you said "best coaches". If we had one then maybe. The upcoming season will be one of the most interesting ever. Nobody really knows the impact the CHL recruits will have over the next 2-3 years. Wildcards. Over time, of course, the wealthiest programs with the best coaches will use NIL to iron out the wrinkles and dominate CHL recruiting but that probably won't occur for a few years.
It's possible that UNH could luck into being pretty decent.
So based on this and Potluck we are close to getting all of the top recruits and winning. does some of this money go to a new coach? From UNH Athletics marketing email today:
Building the Future of UNH Athletics
I’m thrilled and humbled to share that – thanks to the support of many generous donors (along with the state and University) – we’ve secured $19.75 million for the Hockey Arena Renovation project – bringing our bold vision for the future of UNH Hockey to life. With the design phase nearly complete, construction is set to begin this fall and is planned to wrap up in time for the 2026-27 season. This transformative project will enhance both the functionality and aesthetics of the arena – ensuring our Wildcats have the resources they need to thrive on and off the ice. QC October 24/25. Check out College Hockey News, they have the schedules as they come out.For planning purposes, I see we are at UML 11/7 and at home 11/8. Guess I could look up the sched thread to see what else UNH is up to?
Thanks for heads up. I will check out the PSU D3 thread this season, and attend some game at Hanaway, of course.Definitely make the trip at least once if you’re that close! PSU has some quality hockey for it’s size and the team should have a fun year with the new conference. And that’s insane about the Hanaway family! I’ll have to ask around if there are other stories about them. I know they are also the namesake of the main performing arts theatre on campus, so their impact is still very visible today.
And know you all have this as UNH-land but would never be opposed to talking about hockey in USNH as a whole. I’m the lone Plymouth fan in the D3 threads so will definitely have to come over to D1 world some more.
Freshman distance runner Ruth White (Orono, Maine) of the University of New Hampshire women's track and field team placed ninth in the 10,000 meter run with a school-record time of 32 minutes, 20.60 seconds to earn All-America Second Team at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday night at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.
White shattered her own school record set at the NCAA East First Round by 29.43 seconds. She was edged by the University of Alabama's Brenda Tuwei at the finish line to miss All-America First Team by 0.46 seconds.
CHN still does not have Quinnipiac scheduled, just Bentley, UML, and UMass-Flagship. Wonder who will be opponents in the other three OOC games? RPI? Princeton?QC October 24/25. Check out College Hockey News, they have the schedules as they come out.
Immediate post race video focused on the winner not the ninth finisher so it was pretty cool to see her shaking hands and congratulating the winner and many (all?) other competitors. It was easy to follow her during the race. By far the shortest competitor with the fastest moving legs. Not bad, almost 1st team all American. Pretty good for an Orono girl![]()

Cool! So with away games at the Engineers on November 14th, Garnet Chargers on November 15th, and BU Terriors on Valentine’s Day, eight of our 10 games scheduled so far are against former national champions.UNH is listed at RPI and Union on those teams’ released schedules. A back-to-back split weekend in October or November, traveling with UML…
Copy from Twitter. ARticle behind a firewallCan’t believe there is no chatter on this! What is UNH going to do about the recent court ruling on DI roster size, scholarship, NIL etc. My understanding is they need to declare fairly soon. This appears to have a hugh potential impact on the future of all UNH sports. What’s the feeling here and at the administrative level. Certainly not the best year for it to happen.
And by June 30th we should know our full schedule and against whom our 6th OOC game will be played. Who will it be? Who will it be? Atlantic Hockey full schedule now out, so Bentley will be our only “cupcake” from that conference.Opt in date has been moved to June 30.
I think that it would be wonderful to increase to 26 full scholarships, but I do not see that happening for UNH, UVM, Mack, and UML, and not sure about PC and NU. My guess is that BC, BU, Yukon, Maine, and UMass-Flagship will increase to 26 scholarships, which will solidify their upper standing in HEA, so what else is new? UNH needs to win “it all” this coming season before the scholarship disparity fully takes hold. Thanks for providing links and other info on the What and When but I was noting that there was no discussion on what folks think would be best for UNH and hockey in particular. So do we think moving up to 26 players and scholarships would be good or do we want to remain at 18? Can we remain competitive if others chose going to 26. Lots of those type questions. We all know moving to a NIL world would be difficult for us. Can we hope for a bigger cut than the small percentage for “other sports”and might the thought be that hockey makes decent money let’s give them more??? Tell me why this isn’t really a big deal. Really just asking and surprised that a group with so many thoughts about things aren’t taking more about this.
Thanks for bringing the topic to the forefront, ATW. Totally agree, this is a watershed moment in the history of UNH D-1 athletics. Had this not arrived before the increased fundraising for the renovation project was revealed, I would have been pessimistic about UNH opting to go the 26 scholarships route, but with their apparent embrace of the older Canadian juniors route with their recruiting this offseason, I'm actually concluding that somewhere deep in the confines of our esteemed AD's offices, there is a late-developing strategy to buy into the more expensive (and competitive) route. Especially while we're still competing in HEA.Thanks for providing links and other info on the What and When but I was noting that there was no discussion on what folks think would be best for UNH and hockey in particular.
