MASCAC Madness 24-25

MilkUniversity

Roll 'Thers | Plymouth State
Paging any MASCAC fans (or literally anyone)... know we're usually bottom of the barrel but there are some shakeups to add to the history and rivalries between some of these teams.

Anna Maria and Rivier are new members for the 24-25 season and are looking to make waves with the chance for a tournament spot. Plymouth is looking to repeat (again) and UMass Dartmouth is looking for a strong championship run before both teams make the jump to the LEC next season. Fitchburg and Westfield should be in the mix per usual and some dark horses like Salem and Worcester (and maybe Framingham and MCLA) will look to make playoff runs.

Always fun going to these games and wondering if there's any life out there. Should be an interesting season and curious how 25-26 will shape up.

Looks like Plymouth will take it again this year. The program has been getting stronger but there are always upsets. The move to the LEC will be interesting. As for the rest of the MASCAC, there needs to be some heavy recruiting to allow the teams to compete with most out of conference rivals.

Plymouth is still the clear favorite for this year. It's early but seems like this is the most parity MASCAC has had since 2019-2020.

LEC will be fun to watch and we'll see who ends up coming out on top. For MASCAC, it will probably be a two-way race between Anna Maria and Fitchburg, but without the recruiting, nobody is going to have a chance in the tourney or otherwise.

With the MASCAC returning to conference action today, guess I'll try to keep the conference on the map with a state-of-the-conference update. Not a ton of surprises in the conference as of yet, but competition is looking tight for playoff position.

Current rankings:
1. Plymouth State (5-0 MASCAC, 8-4 overall)
2. Fitchburg State (4-1, 7-4)
3. Anna Maria (3-1, 7-4)
4. Salem State (3-2, 7-4)
5. Worcester State (2-2-1, 5-5-1)
6. UMass Dartmouth (2-2), 5-5)
7. MCLA (1-3, 1-9)
8. Westfield State (1-3, 5-6)
9. Rivier (0-3-1, 4-6-1)
10. Framingham (0-4, 1-8-1)

Plymouth looks to continue dominating in the 2nd half of the season. Fitchburg and Anna Maria are in the mix, with the Amcats looking for success in their first season as a conference team. Salem is coming into 2025 with momentum along with Worcester. In the bottom half, UMD is still looking to stay in the mix, while the rest of the field is fighting to make it into the playoffs.

Salem is a definite team to watch after winning 4 in a row, notching wins over Endicott and Middlebury.

Plymouth State continues with its Jeckyl and Hyde season. If they draw Westfield State or Anna Maria, they could be out. Fitchburg State has hit the skids. UMass Dartmouth losing best player to Utica knocks them out. Salem State is a dark horse that could sneak up on Plymouth and get the upset as long as they don’t’ draw Anna Maria and their goalie steps up. Anna Maria is physical and lets their goalie keep them in games. A parade to the penalty box will knock them off. Westfield State seems to want to be physical but does not fully commit to that style, when faced with an opponent that pushes back. Plymouth still hasn’t figured out who they are, skill team, relying on their stars or a broken system?. Should be lots of fun watching the rest of the season unfold.

Still looks like a three horse race. I think Fitchburg state just doesn’t have enough to keep up with the big boys, yes the did knock off Plymouth, but Plymouth hit by injuries has lots of depth. Anna Maria could win it if the refs let them “bully” other teams. Fitchburg had them in trouble midway in the third only to watch the Amcats grind them and take a victory away and put them into the, wait til next year team. Salem State is a sneaky team. A little disrespected, a little more talent than you think and very well coached, makes them a dangerous team. Plymouth needs to take a breath and reset, some guys need to step up and trust all that talent. Going to be a great playoffs

Plymouth State sent a loud message to Anna Maria and the rest of the division. Watch out for Westfield State upsetting Anna Maria. Also Worcester State could get Fitchburg State. Salem state should breeze into finals. Plymouth should takes the cake.
