Maine Black Bears 2026 Offseason: Missing Out on Mistlebacher

As I recall with the Jeff Tory situation that was exactly the case. Walsh brought in Tory knowing he was academically ineligible and received a 5 game suspension. BU's Jack Parker had tried previously to recruit him and found out that he was ineligible. Walsh later received a one year...

I have often wondered why Fortier left. Was he asked to leave or did he leave on his own? I never saw any explanation or rumors about his departure. Water long over the dam at this point. Personality issues, poor performance or Fortier wanted a change?

Thanks for this information. I could see perhaps Frank leaving because of his age, but Josh leaving is puzzling. He had a very good year despite sitting out with an injury for a short time. I think he would have increased his chances of receiving an NHL entry level contract by staying another...

Congrats to Merrimack a number 8 seed!! First ever HE Championship! Lundgren was outstanding and the defense was tenacious in front of him! That was a unified team that came together under Scott Borek. He wasn't on the ice but he deserves a ton of credit for developing this team.

If anyone has access to BDN, Larry has his annual season wrapup including comments from Barr. In summary, Barr says the team's poor culture and weak goal tending were too much to overcome. With 13 new players being introduced to college hockey some of them didn't realize how difficult it was...

That's a team that finished the season strong and developed (10-5-2 in second half). In last place back in December. 1 senior and 1 Grad student on each team. I watched the game until ESPN+ lost the feed prior to OT.🤬 Both Providence and Merrimack loaded with young players.

True. But at least the Maine women were in the championship game. Alisa Kresge in her 8 years at Vermont has taken the Catamounts to 3 conference titles in the last 4 years!

It will be interesting to see who leaves voluntarily or who is told by Barr we no longer want you. We'll probably never know which is the case. I don't think making wholesale changes every year builds team unity. There's something to be said for finding talented players with character and...

He's a senior and I don't think he has any eligibility left.

Maine played a great game in all phases! NU never showed up! I expected to see more from them.

$600.00 is the threshold. Any deal over that needs to be reported to the school. Ace currently has deals with U.S Cellular, Harvest Moon Deli and Golden Bean Bakery in Orono.
