UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

If anyone has access to BDN, Larry has his annual season wrapup including comments from Barr. In summary, Barr says the team's poor culture and weak goal tending were too much to overcome. With 13 new players being introduced to college hockey some of them didn't realize how difficult it was...

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

That's a team that finished the season strong and developed (10-5-2 in second half). In last place back in December. 1 senior and 1 Grad student on each team. I watched the game until ESPN+ lost the feed prior to OT.🤬 Both Providence and Merrimack loaded with young players.

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

True. But at least the Maine women were in the championship game. Alisa Kresge in her 8 years at Vermont has taken the Catamounts to 3 conference titles in the last 4 years!

It will be interesting to see who leaves voluntarily or who is told by Barr we no longer want you. We'll probably never know which is the case. I don't think making wholesale changes every year builds team unity. There's something to be said for finding talented players with character and...

He's a senior and I don't think he has any eligibility left.

Maine played a great game in all phases! NU never showed up! I expected to see more from them.

$600.00 is the threshold. Any deal over that needs to be reported to the school. Ace currently has deals with U.S Cellular, Harvest Moon Deli and Golden Bean Bakery in Orono.

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

According to Tyson McHatten in the athletic department, UMaine has 18% of its student athletes receiving NIL money. 21 deals spread across 20 athletes receiving $600.00 or more. Ace Flagg leads the list with three NIL deals. Total amount of money is $172,952 from all deals. This is from an...

I think Maine can make it to the Garden, but I doubt Maine has the goal tending required to win the Championship. They might prove me wrong! I'm staying optimistic!

In '92-'93 season measles was still around but the number of cases were declining compared '91-'92. I checked the schedule and Maine did play NU on March 12 and 14 in the quarter round at Alfond Arena. Good memory!

I don't recall ever having to show proof of vaccination during the 92-93 season. Perhaps students did, I don't know.

Rick Bennett resigned as head coach from Union College in January 2022. There were allegations over his coaching practices and style. There was an investigation that substantiated the claims. He and the school mutually parted ways for the benefit of the program.

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

In terms of next year, I don't think Barr can make drastic cuts in the roster. He as a coach/recruiter believed in these players enough to recruit them. I don't see how you give up on them after playing together one season. Players develop over the course of time in skill, experience and...

Not official, but that's the same info I received from a friend who is close to the program.

Over the last 20 years Maine hockey is 14-31-2 against Providence! There was a stretch where Maine had 15 consecutive losses against Providence (2014 - 2019). Former Maine volunteer assistant and Old Town High School assistant coach knows how to coach and recruit.

Frozen Four Tickets - Priority Purchase Process

That is also my primary concern. I was assured by the representative that I would be mailed a link next September-October. He verified my email by sending me a message. Time will tell. I will be paying closer attention next year.

Frozen Four Tickets - Priority Purchase Process

Apparently both email addresses are currently unmonitored. After much searching I did find a phone number that worked. A representative of the NCAA was very helpful in trying to diagnose the problem I had. While we never definitively determined what went wrong, I was assured that I would not...

Frozen Four Tickets - Priority Purchase Process

I called the number above 800-720-6879 and I was directed to send an email to tickets@ncaa.org. I haven't received a response. Does anyone have a way of contacting the NCAA regarding my priority Frozen Four ticket account?
