Just confirmed that despite what I suggested above, the Team USA bill is not part of what is about to be voted on in Congress which is focused on broader concerns like NIL etc. That said it’s still in committee and proceeding but if approved as is would not take effect until 2028-29. Not sure...

My bad. The Team USA bill which I discussed above is not part of the legislation soon to be voted upon in the House which deals with NIL payments etc. That said, the Team USA bill is in committee and being put forward but wouldn’t take effect until 2028-29 if approved by Congress as is. What I...

New Bill Aims To Limit Teams To 20% International Players

Just reviewed the proposed college sports legislation up for vote shortly and as Timothy A above suggests the team USA Act is not part of it despite what I said yesterday…That’s not to say it’s not soon to follow but I was encouraged to read it’s not particularly widely supported at this time..,

Gate’s women’s hockey team could be decimated if the House concurs with the Senate on this bill which would put a 20% cap on internationals on US college sports teams theoretically to give US kids a leg up in recruiting and a better chance to participate. This year’s team has 17 of 21 players...

New Bill Aims To Limit Teams To 20% International Players

This would be a disaster for many ECAC, Hockey East and other non WCHA teams that rely primarily on Canadian players as they can’t compete as effectively for good US players against WI, MN or OSU. My team has 17 of 21 players listed as international for 83%. I thought managing NIL payments was a...

So specifically for Colgate the men’s team has 12 internationals of its 28 players for 43%, meaning we would have to reduce our roster to 6 or 7 to comply and for our women the task is much, much harder as 17 of their 21 players are international totaling 81%. So they would have to go from 17...

    Colgate 2026-27

Did anyone see the Senate just overwhelmingly passed that inane bill to restrict international students (read mostly Canadians) to 20% of all US college teams, thus dramatically impacting primarily men’s and women's hockey. Theoretically it’s to protect spots for US kids, but if it also passed...

Gate 3-1 over SLU. On paper it was close as our 3rd goal was a Palumbo empty netter with seconds to go, but we completely dominated in stretches of the game. Gate’s first 2 goals were by first year Addison Tremel from nearby Bishop Kearney and the first was a great snipe. Goal allowed was a...

It was only a scrimmage but I really liked the much greater confidence shown on D. A lot of new D impressed and both Davis and Walker looked good in goal. That was our Achilles heal last year. Some of the youngsters on O also looked good whereas some have some work to do…Hopefully it will be a...

Going into this year I feel she is the best non-frosh D on the roster. The other two upperclassmen have plateaued without reaching their potential and are not maneuverable enough although both big. Here’s hoping some of the numerous FY D can have an early impact as they are sorely needed.

Very surprised Taylor Senecal was not chosen for US college select team for Aug festival. I thought she was great last year and our best young D. Time to prove them wrong this year…

Looks lined we picked up a rising Soph D, Sydney Ullmann, from Clarkson to replace the Sydney we lost to OSU. Still down a D with loss of Georgia Sambrano to Univ of Guelph in Can. Incoming D’s should help.

Just noted we lost Sydney Sawyer via the portal to OSU which is tough because she was a very good D from the best Canadian junior program. It does seem like we have 3 very good D coming in this fall but after this year we could always use Sydney's talents. Thanks Sydney and best of luck at OSU...

Tough year made tougher by being swept by Cornell to end it. That said I think Davis is our goalie for the foreseeable future unless we get someone better through the transfer portal. Hope the new D coming in will help next year. Elissa B has been a nova for us and will be a huge loss but I...
