Well good luck to her at Chatham. They have taken their lumps over the past few seasons but I keep hoping they will make strides for improvement. The ECAC West IS NOT an easy league to make strides in. The top three teams; Elmira, Plattsburgh, and RIT are as good as it gets in D-III women's hockey. Utica, Oswego, and Neumann have all proven over the last couple of years they can be competitive with those three and occassionally pull off the upset so its really hard to make strides into those top six. However, aside from them, the rest of the ECAC W is not that strong and Chatham with the right batch of recruits could compete for 7th and with a little luck have an outside shot at a playoff spot.
I'm the assistant sports information director at Norwich University and have been following D-III women's hockey since it started in 2002. (Orginally from the Elmira area.)
Good luck to you and your daughter and maybe we'll cross paths down the road!
