Michigan Hockey...

wildfire, fair enough, I walked right into that. Ohio State outshot them again Saturday, 30-28, and it was 3-2 until two empty netters made it 5-2. Sunday was the first time in four games Michigan had the shot edge (32-27).
wolverineTrumpet, you missed a wild finish. Michigan led 3-2 on Hage's goal midway through the third. Montes tied it shorthanded with 5:54 left, and Karabela put Ohio State up 4-3 with 2:22 left. Spence tied it with the goalie pulled and 1:12 to go, and Valentini won it 3-on-3 in overtime. Hage finished with a goal and four assists. Not their best 60 minutes, but they left Columbus with a split.

Having seen this team live and on TV once, I'm concerned that they are leaning a LOT of Ivancovic. Like too much.

For a team that is now 8-1, they still are pretty sloppy with the puck and being aggressive. Which consistently comes out in odd man rushes. When OSU scores on one of our PP's, pretty easily, that's pretty bad. And we see that happen way too often even at even strength. Goalies can't save the game every time.

Hope this can get cleaned up now that they see what happens when they rely on the goalie too many times for bad mistakes.

We took the kid trick-or-treating Saturday so missed that game. Saw the score, didn't feel like watching it after the fact. :(

Watched Sunday and Michigan looked slow to start. Not the team I think I've seen most of this season. 7:30 game on a Sunday of daylight savings time had me watching the 3rd period from bed. Saw aOSU's 4th goal and called it a night. Guess I should have stayed up a little longer....but sleep was nice.

Now I get to do the same thing for football this weekend. TV is stupid. 7:30 football game in November in Michigan.
Yep, you never bail on hockey when it can turn on a dime. Winning goal for Michigan with .43 left in the OT. Ohio State got caught with tired skaters and the kid that blew the coverage on the winning shooter was a freshman but that's hockey, right? As I mentioned to you on the Ohio State thread I'd love to come to Yost for the rematch but the wife is battling cancer and that complicated things.

Agree on how much they're leaning on Ivankovic. He's started all nine games and he's at .921, but they've been outshot in five of those nine, and the penalty kill is 26 of 34. That's a lot to put on one goalie, even a good one. At least the off weekend before Penn State gives them time to clean it up.

Sorry to hear about your wife. I hope things go as well as possible. Good luck to you both.

It's nice catching up with you when you are able to make it up to Yost.
