Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2026-27

McNaughton hurt... still feeling effects from the first series
I noticed some weird body language from her in the second game of the Mankato series last weekend near the media timeout of the first period. Appeared to get twisted up and then talk to the trainer and do some uncharacteristic movements during the timeout. Looked like it could have been similar to that first series injury. Anyone have any info if she was skating last week or at the USA camp in Detroit this week?

Wouldn't be surprised if USA told her to go home and play for Wisconsin and make sure she is healthy. I don't believe that Shanahan (the 4th goalie at camp) will threaten her spot next time around. She got minimal minutes in the PWHL for New York last season.

Would also be very interested to see if Gorbatenko is in this weekend and if so what her readiness level is. Going to be a slightly shorthanded weekend, but the potential additions of Potter and McNaughton will be interesting, especially since St. Cloud is #1 in the WCHA currently.

McNaughton did not skate at camp the last week. The 3rd goalie spot is a tough place to be and is completely interchangeable as she will never play aside from scrap minutes.
Gorbatenko will play. I'm sure she's not 100 % but will try.
St. Cloud will be missing their 3 or 4 "Best" players including their #1 goalie.
Yes , they are 6-0 in WCHA but have played the 3 weakest teams and squeaked out their wins in close games.

After yesterday she might be headed back.
