Business, Economics, and Taxes 2: That's Why We Fight to Take the Means Back

Anyone wants to understand how corporate America, and private equity are destroying the World look no further than EA killing off Bioware. The definition of what is profitable in this country is off the rails.

"Ultra Right Beer" charged $19.99 for a 6 pack and didn't fulfill a large chunk of its orders.

My god, they are dumb.

People keep telling us to give them some grace when they keep giving their money to rather obvious scammers. They make scammers against seniors look mild.

I paid $1.99 for a case of Blatz in 1981.

Check mate, atheists.
A week an a half ago, we bought a bottle of wine for 5 euros. And it was not the cheap one. Why American's are so happy overpaying this much is interesting.

A better name, BTW, would be more like Bigot Beer, and they can make the label like Billy Beer- if anyone remembers that.

So I watched one of the popular channels quoted here often about the oil prices, and while he didn't directly accuse this point, it was pretty clear that the "war" was to increase US exports of gas and diesel, and with the supply limitation, our oil companies are basically printing money. All on our backs because stupid people elected a moron to run the country.

We are so screwed.

Finally jumped aboard Mr. Global's bandwagon? 😃
No, I've been seeing him on and off for a while (couldn't remember his name). But this presentation of why US fuel prices have gone up, and then spiked drastically with the war pretty much illustrated that this war was totally about oil company greed. And all of the BS that the US has decreased refining is a red herring- it went up under Biden anyway. But now, the global situation has put US oil companies in the cat bird seat. Some of that created by the fucking moron.

It sucks that we, the citizens, don't get any royalties from companies taking our natural resources. Shareholders get it all.

Got a sheet of Arby's coupons in the mail just now, and couldn't help but notice the current "deal" on the regular roast something sandwich.

When I worked at an Arby's in high school 2002-2004, we used to dread the inevitable "Five for $5" promotion corporate would run every summer on the regular roast something. Customers didn't even need a coupon for it at the time, and every day without fail, several people would come in and order 20-40 sandwiches to feed an entire office or work crew. Drive thru would get backed up as the slicer crew had to crank out a shitload of them, practically nonstop from roughly 11:30a to 1:30p.

Today, the "deal" is 4 regulars for $12.

In not quite 25 years, that is 200% inflation for what is the same mediocre-at-best product. Heck, the regular has probably undergone shrinkflation too, and lost at least an ounce of sliced whatever.

200% in 25 years = 2.8% inflation per year. Not that crazy.

Now I know why my grandparents always marveled at the high price of everything....
