The 2024 GQP Thread: Because Deutsche Gopher Fan ENDED the Last One

Rove may very well be right about Cornyn. Paxton has a lot of baggage, even for a Republican from Texas. His, "I'm a hyper-masc bro, I swear!" campaign strategy isn't working with younger 2024 Trump voters who are pissed about the new wars and fuel prices. Enough Texans could finally be tired of his clownshow that it could be the difference.

I'll believe it when I see it. That's not saying it won't happen. By every right under the sun it ought to happen. But it's Texas. And it's not who votes that counts, it who counts the votes.

I have to believe there is some factor of public shaming going on with at least SOME of the R voters from 2024... There has been some noticeable attrition in my world on that front.

Whether its enough to tip the scales in a place like Texas, who knows... But I'll take the hope!

We can hope even Texas’s SoS is as, well, capable of meeting the low bar that Georgia’s SoS met in 2020…

I mean…we’re down to hope at this point. As someone else said, I don’t expect any of those people to vote democrats, but maybe they’ll stay home, and that, we hope, is enough to make it 52-48 D in the Senate and what, 230-205 D in the House?

If shame was possible he would never have been re-elected in 2024.

They want this. They have been itching to end democracy. It's not in the Bible.

And as the bank takes their house, farm, and small business, they'll still vote MAGA while repeating "God has a plan."

I do want to shake them and remind them "God is a kid with a magnifying glass, lady. He's not planning anything," but my time is better spent elsewhere.

We really should have put the stake through Calvinism back in the day. Predestination is a hell of a drug.

The GOP must be running scared in Iowa. The governor just called the legislature into special session in a week to pass tax incentives for a supposed steel mill to be built in southeast Iowa. Never mind that just yesterday Trump said it was a done deal and local politicians said it was going to happen with or without tax incentives. Never mind there's no existing supply chain or history of steel production in the area.

It's to be owned by an Indian company that just went through bankruptcy a decade ago.

This has FoxConn 2.0 written all over it. Only question is whether the rubes buy it enough to swing the election back to the right.

The local media has thus far had a striking lack of skepticism. They're basically reporting on it like the GOP hasn't been lying for the last 20 years.

Amazing how the senator that confused an NBA team in Atlanta with a women's collegiate basketball team in Iowa was the same person who co-authored the Protect College Sports Act.

Katie looks a bit stunned.

Terrible when their carefully crafted 'gotcha' moment blows up in their faces.

But this just shows how incredibly stupid these people are. They got the emails, and went, oh yeah, we got him now. No verification, no follow up, no checking travel records, no checking on the location of his protective detail, nothing. Just found an email and ran with it.

But the dumb shits on the right eat it up. All they see is the soundbite of Schmitt falsely accusing Smith of being at a Hawks game and "I think you just perjured yourself," and think that's it.

Especially when he went on NewsMax, had the clip of him doing exactly that played, then doubled and tripled down on boxing Smith into a corner. They never aired Smith making the connection and clarifying, and they sure as hell never aired Klobuchar's correction.

It's the embodiment of the Republican party for 20+ years. Shout loudly about something incorrectly, and never own the mistake.
