UMass Lowell 2025-2026: Youth will be served

Not hockey related, but as other sports are about to begin, I was looking at the roster for the Men's Soccer team. I remember a few years ago and looking at the roster for some of the other programs they played and seeing the heavy international side, but Lowell's best year at the D1 level (2016), they had 11 Mass born players and 7 international. This year's roster has just 2 MA kids (along with two from my hometown of Nashua) and 18 international players (including one from Australia). That's a heavy change to how the roster is being constructed. I do wonder how much the MLS Academies have an affect on this.

Feels strange to realize that the preseason game is 3 weeks from tonight. I won't be there, as I'll be traveling (you'll never guess why!). But I'll be trying to watch on ESPN+ if they're doing that again this year.

I saw this article the other day. It's really pathetic that they haven't fixed the "Redhawks" nonsense.
That's not the only thing that needs to be corrected in there.

Last NCAA Tournament appearance: 2017 (I guess the one in 2022 didn't count? They were also 11th in the Pairwise when the regular season ended in 2020 and would have made the NCAAs that season as well)
Arena: Tsongas Center (6,500) (Technically, it was never 6500, the most was 6496, but it hasn't been that since 2010. It's currently 6003)

The fact that they get the team name wrong in the headline, and can't get basic facts right doesn't exactly make me trust what they have to say.

It's so funny to see these outlets and pundits just pump out clear engagement slop; probably done mostly with AI. The best are all the anonymous X accounts that do their season predictions for each conference. Feel like I see at least two of those posts each day this time of year.

Lowell is ranked 10th out of 11 in the HE media poll.

Let's just hope with decent at home. I'm not asking a lot as a 20 year season ticket holder.
This is my biggest wish for this season. We haven't had a winning record at home the last three seasons, a combined 13-31-5 for a 26.5% home win rate. In other words, we're only barely winning one of out every four home games. This absolutely is embarrassing.

Question, did anyone attend the meet and greet the other day? Glad to see Jak got the C for this year, he's always been a player I've liked plays both ends really well. I'm with the sentiment here, it's definitely a make or break year for Norm. There is a lot of concern from us here, and I think the Administration as well. They also need to get the engagement from the students, how quiet was in the arena at times last year. Could hear a kid crying over even the game being played.

I would tend to agree this is a make or break year for Norm, especially with the new AD coming from Univ of Denver and presumably knowing a thing or two about what it takes to build a top tier program.

I wouldn't call her "new" anymore, as this is the third season she's been here.

On top of that, didn't Norm just sign an extension?
