It would have been easier to call it on the previous play, since it happened then, too. Would have been easier to swallow than the clock thing.

But they never call it on hail marys.

SC showed the video that the refs used, as well as the discussion, and there was a difference between the TV clock and the official clock.

I have yet to see any old time Michigan fans who are even close to happy with that game. They lost in spite of the score.

If that didn't work, the referee would have carried the ball into the end zone himself and awarded Michigan the points. The Wolverines were not losing that game.

Ok.
But it wasn't vegas that did it- Michigan didn't come close to cover the spread, so for almost all bets, Western won.

My dad texted this morning, "I see your football team is off to a better start than mine. You guys should apply to play in Michigan Stadium, too."
 
So now that the players are being paid, does this hive think that criticizing the players is more fair play now?

The amount of ripping the team for being soft, and singling out specific players is pretty epic in Michigan world. Underwood is getting a real blood letting in the media, and since he's the highest paid player on the team, and the most underperforming, it sure seems fair. The whole offense is being taken to the woodshed for that garbage, and how they let the defense out to dry, leaving them on the field for 40 min, and twice gifting the ball to Western already in scoring position.

And the coaching staff is being drawn through the wringer for a lot of reasons.

It's kind of fun.

A good D isn't making the QB stare down receiver all night. A good D isn't messing with the QB's footwork, especially when they are not actually pressuring him- which made plays, where the good D wasn't near the receiver, a very short play instead of a long gain. A good D isn't making the offense line up stupidly more than once. A good D isn't the reason linemen stop blocking and just watch the play. A good D didn't force the dumb holding penalties when the defender wasn't really able to do anything to change the play... The good D did figure out the snap, so the offense gave up that advantage.

The one other massive offensive error, I will make it 50/50 for bad handling of the ball AND a really good technique to gang tackle the QB on the rush. That was solid.

Western's D did play very well, but Michigan's offense shot itself in the food just about as much.
 
Power went out in Tallahassee and only partially came back. Because of this the SMU-FSU game has no scoreboard, no clock, no PA system, no replay, no sideline tablets, no helmet comms, and partial lighting.

Officials are keeping time on the field, ESPN is syncing up with them during commercial breaks.

Suuuuuure they are. There will be a slight discrepancy if need be at the end of the game... Call it the Michigan Rule.
