I've put my tickets on seatgeek. Whatever doesn't sell I'll give to clients or use myself. If you price them reasonably they will sell. If you get greedy, they won't. No one is paying $270 for a seat in the upper bowl against Colgate.

Let's compare sustained success over the last few decades. Football has made the playoffs 6 times since 1990. Hockey has made the tournament 14 times since 1990. Football made the semifinals (frozen 4) once since 1990, has 0 championship appearances and 0 championships. Hockey has 9 frozen 4's, 5 championship appearances and 2 championships since 1990. Football was 13 winning seasons since 1990, while hockey has 26 winning seasons since 1990.

1990 was 36 years ago. it's easy to cherry-pick numbers you can select the time-line. (Fer instance, hockey was winless until 1977...)

My point was that football carried the flag while Red was busy destroying what was left of Maine hockey. There was at least a modicum of interest generated in that respect.

For as good of a job as the hockey program does celebrating it's professional alumni sometimes that gets lost with the other sports.

Hell, the football program had a former offensive coordinator (Liam Coen) become an NFL head coach that turned a 4-13 team into a 13-4 team overnight and they didn't post a single tweet about him last season. Wild how much of a missed opportunity that was for exposure for the football program.

Maine has produced a number of outstanding NFL players over the years. Those days are likely coming to an end, but how about (say) Montell Owens (a pro-bowler) and Mike DeVito, who had a distinguished career. And there were many more.

Sure, call me a hopeless romantic, but I like the game of football, especially when Maine is playing it.

I mean at those price points those must be "I don't actually want to sell my tickets, but if you're willing to pay this exorbitant $$ you can have em" listings.

I thought this was an interesting question so I went back over the last few years using https://www.mainehockeyhistory.com/recruiting

Nick Peluso, Josh Nadeau, Bradly Nadeau and Ryan Hopkins all committed at ~17 and made it to Orono. Thomas Pichette, Nolan Renwick and Lynden Breen all committed at ~16 and made it to Orono. Brad Schlossman wrote an article about this topic and it was something like 30% of these early commits ever make it to the school they committed to. I imagine Maine's number is even lower than that due to the over recruiting issues.

I am generally sympathetic to those who get bilked online. Our elderly weren't properly socialized to the internet to understand that it's a dangerous world out there. But "I believed Seatgeek when it told me I was getting a great deal on Maine hockey tickets for $270" is a level of gullibility that leads me to just shrug and figure someone was going to separate you from your money eventually, may as well be now.
 
It's just super frustrating for me because when I listed my tickets for Quinnipiac I got a letter from the VP of ticket sales that Seatgeek had flagged them. I researched and found I was the only one who had listed lower bowl seats so the AI had nothing to compare it to. I noted that the algorithm (AI) had scored upper bowl tickets for 3x my price as great deals. Once other people listed their lower bowl seats I was scored a 10 and the tickets have subsequently been sold.

I really want to know how Seatgeek can get away with saying those are great deals when mine were overpriced at a fraction of the price...
 
In the "things could be worse" department......the new Northeastern arena has been delayed by another 9 months. Their hockey team will be homeless for yet another year.
