RPI 2026 Off-Season: Please Pardon Our Appearance As We Upgrade This Area

More golf tidbits:
- The team is physically big, much bigger than past rosters. There are a lot of kids in the 6'0 + 200 lb range
- We do have a new assistant coach whose name escapes me, but nice guy and already engaged
- Good turnout, full room ( i don't know what the attendance # was)
- Alumni present included Murley, Basiuk, Jake Lee, Chuck Rancourt ...I know there were others who I've missed
- Post event gathering --comments were brief (Lang, Vines and Bowers spoke) No player introductions or speeches

"Bigger" will get Doc excited. I think he sees 6' 200 as a baseline with a requirement for a few Luke Curadi sized guys, preferably with a nasty on-ice attitude.

Neutral Zone has moved Evaschesen from 2026 to 2027. We are the 18th best recruit class for 2026 and still #1 in the ECAC. We are #55 for 2027 with just 3 recruits; Evaschesen, Witkowski and Chingwaru.
We are now #19, but will probably move to about #12 if Serlin is coming.

Big is a good start - obviously it takes a lot more but you can never teach size and the physical nature of this game now necessitates at least having several players who are tall and wide. It certainly looks like we will not be an easy team to push around. Now we will have to see if we can be a team that is also not easy to skate around!!

FWIW, besides for Serlin, Guelph has lost their first round choice Declan McNally.

I highly doubt that he is going to RPI as a 2010 d-man.

RPI announces Matt Nicholson as the new assistant coach.

Comes to RPI after a season at Bowling Green, following stints at Robert Morris (second time), Mercyhurst, Niagara, the Amarillo Bulls and Robert Morris (first time). Was there when Robert Morris made the NCAA tournament two times.

Nice quote from Coach Lang: "Matt has an incredible track record of developing players, programs, and people. He is an all-world human being, first and foremost. Anywhere Matt has been, he has left the program better than he found it. He's a winner with a proven ability to recruit and elevate programs, especially during times of transition. We are incredibly fortunate to have a coach with his level of experience."

It proves nothing, but rpi_mhockey is following his Instagram account. https://www.instagram.com/leoserlin/https://www.instagram.com/leoserlin/ I could follow Serlin's account and find out if it works the other way also, but that still wouldn't prove anything.

Serlin announced his commitment to RPI on Instagram about an hour ago.
