Business, Economics, and Taxes 2: That's Why We Fight to Take the Means Back

Watching early 20s dude bros take their first pump and dump right in their Wendy's dumpster is sobering. There is a lot of this out there:

I wonder if this queers the hype for the other upcoming super-IPOs?

SPCX closes down at $131.11.
At 6:45 (Eastern Time) something happened and it immediately dropped from 132 to 125. It's going to slowly drop, with occasional spikes when Elmo says something but it's going to go down. I wish I could short it or buy puts but the cost to do either is prohibitive - and risky considering Elmo can make it spike briefly at any time. Same reason I never shorted AMC. You never know when the Wendy's aficionados over at /wsb are going to meme it back to $10.

Scrubbed launch.

No. Seriously. The aborted launch caused the stock to drop.

It looks like dropping below the IPO triggered automatic sell orders for SPCX. After dawdling along from 140 to 135 it's now cratering. 125 as of now.

The manipulation on this is fun to watch. I imagine less so if you are holding it.
At 3pm it was 125.
Within 5 minutes it was approaching 130.
Within another 5 minutes it was back down to 125.
It continued down to hit a low of 122 before rebounding slightly.

Doing the math on this...
If you had a single $125 call option that expired today it was trading for about $35 at 3pm. When the price spiked it would have sold at $518 (the day's high) and by 310 it was back around $15. If you timed your trade right you made nearly 15x on the way up. About 10x more if you timed the put trade right and rode it back down.

Not that anyone would do that...

In the case against the Paramount/WB merger, Paramount's lawyers made a point of Apple's F1 The Movie being distributed to national audiences as a sign that the consolidation of movie studios is opening up new entrants to the market.

California attorneys who are suing to stop the merger pointed out to Paramount's bus stop ad, AI using, lawyers that Apple's F1 The Movie was actually distributed by Warner Brothers, the company Paramount is trying to merge with, had their own lawyers bothered to look.
