2026 Elections: To the Midterms and Beyond!

Platner could pull a Mansion, Fetterman or Sinema and screw over the party by refusing to back out before the deadline, thereby remaining on the ballot and handing the seat to Susan. That will also free up the $300 million ad buy to use in other senate races, hurting the party nationally.
 
Platner can go play in traffic. I knew it as soon as I heard about the Nazi Tattoo and could not believe that the party idiots, and the voters were supporting the clown. This country is a joke.

As someone who knew this guy had major skeletons in the closet how did the powers that be not know? It wasn’t exactly a secret. Not to mention he was a massive phony as well.

I say this half jokingly but is there a chance the Democratic Party has Republicans working for them who are sabotaging their chances? It truly baffles me how people could **** up so badly.
 
Many comments online hoping Heather Cox Richardson will show some interest. Troy has little chance against Collins, maybe if Platners whole team gets behind Troy?? Lets face it their is very little chance anyone can beat Collins now. She must be laughing her ass off, dreaming about all the money her hubby will get now.

The DNC is more afraid of progressives and socialists than Authoritarians or Fascists. If candidates come along and do things people like that might pressure them to actually do something, which would wreck their taxpayer funded vacation and piss off their corporate sponsors.

It's about his platform, not him. The things he supports are incredibly popular. The DNC tried to clear the field for Mills, but Platner ran anyway. The better choice was David Costello, but he never had any money and no one paid attention.

That's a big problem with the Democratic Party right now. Because the people who were in there never delivered people are voting for people who are lying to them about what they can actually accomplish (new socialist platform, etc._) and not taking into account the person. It's actually the same dynamic the Republians have with Trump and Maga. And they will get burned because of it.

Character fucking matters. Always.
 
In exchange for stepping down Platner wanted to pick the candidate who replaced him. The MDP said no and promised an “open, transparent, and inclusive” process.

Jackson released a statement that he took out papers and filed with the FEC just in case, but that he hasn't made up his mind about running.

Clearly it doesn’t, or we wouldn’t have Trump. Or, character matters to some Democrats. Me personally? I could give a flying fuck about a Nazi tattoo. If Platner was actually going to support the shit he talked about supporting in the Senate, I could give a shit about a tattoo and his past beliefs and would have enthusiastically voted for him. Sexually assaulting someone is an entirely different level. That isn’t about character. Someone can have poor character and make an excellent Senator while avoiding committing heinous felonies.

Drew advocating for Shah against Collins must mean Jackson is our man.

Platner sucks but the whole "Nazi tattoo" charge was utter bullshit. It was a death's head. If that's by definition"Nazi" then so are 90% of heavy metal bands' logos.

It was the death's head for the SS, but how is some YDFC jarhead going to know that?

That is the core problem. More exactly, the DNC's donors can live with Authoritarians or Fascists but not progressives or socialists.

Rogers is going to walk all over Stevens in the general if she isn't stopped. She is booorrrrrrring and fights for nothing in particular. Spends a lot of money and is not particularly known for much of anything. Old perception that she was elected out of her parents' basement and has never had a "real" job is likely to still stick.

Republicans will hold the Senate. Impeachment will never happen. His face will be carved into Mount Rushmore before his second term is over.
