That was my initial thought, but Maine is one short of the non-Alaska maximum of 34.Rumors of Cornell at MSG seem to have been premature.

Maine seems to be "locked out" of scheduling BIG teams with them preferring to play about every other HE team. Miami is a good get IMO....they seem to be on their way up. Why are we playing AT Holy Cross....and why are we playing Colgate at home again? Weird. This schedule thing this year does seem like a bit of a slog. For the department's premiere program....everything seems a bit disjointed. So, going by NPI, the non-conference schedule is:
Two games at #38 (Holy Cross)
Home for two against #10 (Quinnipiac)
Home for two against #49 (Colgate)
Home for one against #45 (Army)
Home for two against #33 (Miami)
Add that to the conference schedule against a league that managed to put only two teams into the top 16 of the NPI.
This is, frankly, an embarrassment to the athletic department. Are they choosing playing bad teams at home to fill the arena to make money over the team having any sort of success? Maine might need to win 25 games against this schedule to make the NCAAs.

The new system does favor playing (and winning) road games....so maybe that played into this?@HC is kind of a surprise and disappointment. I would have to imagine, as much as I love to trash the B1G at any given opportunity, that the lack of B1G games on the schedule is more about Maine than it is them. Maine seems very content to have a (mostly) weak OoC schedule to hopefully try and rack up wins instead of playing premier games that they may lose. I know they had DU recently, and they love playing QU, but that alone doesn't convince me otherwise. Given that UNH is getting Michigan State to come to Durham, I can't imagine that people would balk at coming to Orono if they were asked, unless they're just that afraid of playing at Alfond. Which I would also doubt. I think Maine just wants to use the cupcake model that some other schools are fond of (see State University, Pennsylvania).
Yeah, we'll never see Maine fly across the country to play a top 5 team while Barr is the coach! Just impossible for that to ever happen. This program really does demonstrate that Barr hates to fly. Will Maine ever play decent OOC teams again while Barr is coach?

Good! Also no Portland game this year.
Don't forget Cornell (#11) in NYC. It isn't on the schedule for either team yet but will be added later. So, going by NPI, the non-conference schedule is:

Makes me miss the days when the non-conference featured heavyweights like Bowdoin, Colby, Plattsburgh State, US International and Huntsville.Well, that non conference schedule is underwhelming at the very least. Yikes.
I dislike flying also but its a fact of life sometimes. I'm not scared just not comfortable in seats made for short people. If scared valium is availableThis program really does demonstrate that Barr hates to fly. Will Maine ever play decent OOC teams again while Barr is coach?
Think the answer is fall of ‘27. Maine just announced adding Dru Krebs on D. Played 2 full seasons in the ECHL.Maksim Sokolovski goes 27 to Philly. Anyone see who is sitting with him?! Benny Barr.is he coming this fall?
