You're likely correct on the team travel. Concerning Alaska Airlines I suspect their non-Alaskan shareholders have decided there's more money in their pocket not doing as you propose.

Tennessee State University’s program is in jeopardy due to lack of funding. They are expected to fold unless they receive enough funding to sustain “at least 5 years or more” of programming. The schools president said that the final decision is expected within the next 30 days.
I don’t think anyone is surprised, but it is still disappointing to see a startup program fail.

Still baffled by the responses from the NHL in support of the program, did they not do their research?

The Athletic Director at Tennesee State reported that the Nashville Predators are willing to provide $2.5 - $3 million to cover 2 years worth of funding to 'Break the Ice' and get the program started in Nashville. That is in addition to a fundraising campaign within the first year that would cover operating expenses for the subsequent years.
However, their president said that the operation wont get off the ground unless they secure 5+ years of operating assistance.

I agree, it has the plan of a division 1 team that I would conjure up 9 beers deep. Also in that tweet they report playing in 2027…. So they may be considering pushing it back another year?

I've followed college hockey for 55 years, and have never witnessed an environment such as this ("House", NIL, CHL). Without a substantial fiscal foundation, the near-term success prospects for any new program, and even many existing programs, will be more than daunting.
The results of the recent draft may suggest that half of the conferences/programs are quickly becoming irrelevant in the grand national scheme. What sane AD would risk his/her job and reputation in this bizarre ecosystem?

If you dig deeper, I am sure that you will find that maybe about 10 teams from those 3 conferences make up more than 1/2 of those draftees as well.
I don't think this is a new trend- Non draft loaded teams hope to compensate with older late developing players
After 3rd or 4th round draft is a crap shoot. Not sure why thet have so many rounds-
Not just college hockey but with the new ruling on age limits for the NCAA, many junior leagues are becoming irrelevant as well. But see here, expansion in the NHL will solve this.

If you think about it, this ruling is basically returning hockey to what it was pre-COVID, minus any red shirts, which I don't think a lot of hockey teams used for development, but did use for injuries. A player that comes in at age 20 will have four years of eligibility, which is not that much different than pre-COVID. I think we just got so used to what things had become after COVID with all the extra years, that this now seems really radical.
