RPI 2026 Off-Season: Please Pardon Our Appearance As We Upgrade This Area

Absolutely had his work cut out for him as he got nothing or perhaps less than nothing from the top. But i do not recall more than 1 NCAA appearance and I do not remember any top 10 ratings. i do recall purchasing tickets for Atlantic City every year for the ECAC playoffs and giving them away each time. A few of us can go way back through the various coaching eras and I have to say that we can remember so much better before the last 25 years (and of course, some really bad times also but they did not seem to last as long). I will say that we seem to be on the right track now and I have not been this optimistic in a very long time.
Seth started with a lot of momentum which he lost when Pirri and D'Amigo left. Once lost, it can be almost impossible to get it back. The worst thing that happened to Seth, and us, was Pirri being drafted in 2009 by the Blackhawks. They were in the process of gutting their prospect pool to make a Cup run, which they successfully executed in 2010. That led them to sign Pirri that summer as they repopulated the Rockford roster. Under ordinary circumstances I think he would have been in Troy for 2-3 years. I don't know for sure if Pirri's impending departure triggered D'Amigo's decision to negotiate an early exit to the Leafs, but it seems likely as we heard he was gone shortly thereafter.

I tried to list our performance in the ECAC since 2001. It has been over 22 years since we finished as high as third and only once in the past 22 years a single fifth, we have been sixth or lower every year. As much as we make excuses for this we have had only 2 coaches and 1 administration during that time period yet a plethora of recruiting classes. I am the eternal optimist and hope that coach Lang is the fellow to turn this all around.

Dr. D, I am having a hard time figuring out what the column headings for this chart should be. Could you clarify, please?

FWIW, on Monday, former RPI d-man Matthew Jovanovic's sister Sophie became the first woman ever chosen in the OHL's U18 priority draft (second round). (She has committed to Wisconsin.)

Congrats to Kirk MacDonald and his WBS Penguins on a heck of a year...they were eliminated from the Calder Cup playoffs by the Marlies. They were the youngest team in the AHL and Kirk guided them to a 46-17-7-2 regular season record.

It looks like RPI read your post.

same on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vtOlBy16Vo

Some interesting scheduling quirks in there.

Quinnipiac and Princeton away then home with just a weekend in between is strange. Also six of final eight games on the road. Won't have the luxury of a slow start because that's a tough finish.

Gotta play 'em all and win as many as you can!

i only posted the chart for the reference to the last column on the right listing our finishes in the ECAC each year. Most of us around here know this already but just wanted to refresh everyone about how we have done for the past 25 years. One third place finish and that being many years ago is just not acceptable and all of this was during the last 2 coaching regimes. It is hard to find greater futility over such a long period of time going back as far as i can recall to 1963. I would never place any blame on the players but i do not want to hear any excuses or accolades given for coaching during this period. Say whatever you will about previous coaches, we were almost always a more competitive program.

Anyone want to guess Freakout date?

I don't think what you said is accurate. We finished 2nd under Seth once, and finished 4th under Dave in 2020
