2025-26 PWHL season

Troy Ryan "named GM and head coach of San Jose." There was talk of Ken Klee being interested in doing something like this for Minnesota (and briefly he basically did when Darwitz left before the next GM started).
Hate the coach/GM thing in all sports.

So the league moves him from Toronto to San Jose? Does that seem weird?

From what I've seen, they get a $1500 per month housing stipend on top of their pay.
That really isn't enough. My future daughter-in-law is paying that kind of money for a not so great place in the suburbs of Milwaukee. Can't imagine what you would pay for a dump like that in New York.

How as you supposed to live on $39000 living in NY? Heck, in WI it'd be tough. That's pre-tax one would assume. Do they get any stipend for housing or food?
I believe the salaries do not include bonus incentives, but for some it has to be hard to make it work. There must be some formula being used to determine the salaries in total for each team. What agent asks for $90,706.95?

There is a cap and some salaries are front loaded…. The players mostly room with a teammate or teammates to make that housing stipend work.

That sure is a lousy existence in a professional league. You make the big-time show but you are literally forced to live like you are still in college.

Well… unfortunately it’s very far from “The Big Time Show”.
Reality is it’s a place to play for 4/5 years for those that love the game.
It’s getting better every year a little at a time. Will it last ? Who knows ?
