Wisconsin Hockey 25-26 Hastings Year 3 - Turning the Corner?

he seems to duck at high shots.
Good catch, I noticed this as well and It led to a goal @Penn St. and indirectly led to a goal against MSU(??)(the puck bounced off the side of his head from a shot from the goal line because he flinched his head) But whenever there is a rising shot he tends to flinch his head down. Normal, natural, and acceptable reaction for anyone other than goalie. I jokingly told my buddy during the Penn St. game that when they get back the team needs to strap him to the net Goldburg style and throw pucks at his face to try to break that head flinch.

I plan on rewatching tonight to really take a listen to the announcers, any bias, and look at Hayaer's play. I tend to watch a game like Im at the arena so I zone out the commentary and watch the play on the ice.

I certainly wasnt impressed out of the gate. The fact that these games are on ESPNU is bad enough, but it is an indicator of the quality lf announcing ESPN will assign. We got the Jr B team from the ESPN offices in CT, which in all the regionals will probably lead to eastern hockey bias.

That being said...it's on national TV. So dont want to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Badgers held Dartmouth's top line to 4 shots on goal. I look to see the same passion on D tomorrow.

That was RPI that day we scored a ton that day. Forget the final , Ford field slop ice won that won. Natty final played in crap.
IIRC, we played RIT that game. It wasnt really close, and RIT didn't look like they belonged there, but it wasnt really a blowout until the 3rd, so I think it was a case of that Badgers team just wearing RIT down with depth of talent.

I think generally Eastern teams, save for a few HE teams (i.e. BC, BU and maybe an ECAC team here and there) play a much more defensive style of hockey. That's not an indictment, just my observation. And as Ive said before, the Big10 has high powered offenses.

Sorry if this has been discussed but does anyone know if there will be tickets available at the box office tomorrow? Just looked on the secondary platforms and it seems silly to pay over $100/ticket for a game that will be half full.

Online on ticketmasters website (they’re the official ticket vendor) there seems to be plenty available at $71, it says the dcu center box office will be open tomorrow before the game as well.

BTW, this tournament is the first time I've been able to put eyes on the top NCHC teams. These teams would easily compete in and give fits to the entire Big Ten conference.

It all started with you saying Dartmouth would be the worst team in the Big Ten. Based on one game. Basically calling the ECAC and Dartmouth's season a fraud. It's classic "our conference is much better than every other conference" arrogance that I felt like commenting on. That's all.

The Badgers outplayed 'em. Just like UConn outplayed MSU. UConn got goalied, the Badgers banged in a few late goals. That's hockey.

Good luck the rest of the way.

If it makes you feel any better I picked an all Big Ten Final in my bracket. (I won't tell you who the two teams are to avoid more wrath.)

I’ve spent some time reflecting about my disparaging remarks about Dartmouth and I just want to say that I shouldn't have used the word "Sucks" but I haven’t changed my mind - I don't think they're very good. Maybe Bucky caught them on a bad day but they don't skate well, aren't very physical and outside of a four on two rush that resulted in their only goal they were the worst offensive team I've seen Wisconsin play this year. Well coached - check. Good goaltending - check, Disciplined - check......but that's about all I saw. That they were #8 in the NPI with the #54 strength of schedule (worst in the top 20) leads me to believe that the NPI is way more flawed than PairWise ever was.

This was the first game this year that I wasn't on the edge of my seat every time an opponent entered Bucky's zone with the puck which says a lot when you consider how shaky the defense has been. And I stand by my comment that they would have finished last in the B10 - Notre Dame was much better towards the end of the season, Ohio State is hard to play, and even Minnesota with all their problems has more juice.

Dartmouth appears to be building something substantial and have the right coach in place but they've got some work to do.

I'm a Badger fan but I'm not a homer - I think that the game against Sparty is going to be an uphill battle. They're big, strong, fast, and physical which is gonna cause all kinds of problems. I love their style of play and hope that Hastings can get Bucky to that level at some point.

Still top teams best comference NCHC. They have a lot of Championships. They are highly skilled like our conference but tougher in the close games than BIG10

Had anyone seen a before and after defensive numbers comparison for the Hensler and Schulz injuries? I didn't turn one up and I'm too lazy to do it myself.

Good first period - Sparty looked like they were on a different level in the two games in Madison and this looks much more even.

Defense doing a good job moving the puck and getting good support from the forwards at the top of the zone.
