One win from another Frozen 4. Get there and dump that other eastern team.Hey Tunnelers...Could you go out there and give your best effort against Northleastern? Please?
Unless they give them free pizza or something, they won't go anyway. Plus, they're on Spring break.Got an e-mail from the ticket office saying ticket demand is so high that students will be admitted free.
Lol.Maybe there are other good teams outside the WCHA?
he..he..heMaybe there are other good teams outside the WCHA?
Hey, where's that slot in the Frozen Four and a chance to win it all?Y'all would be CRAZY to run Frosty out of town. How many years has his team made the frozen 4? All but 1 I'm guessing. All you want is a slot in the frozen 4 and a chance to win it all. He's given that to you, he won 4 it looks like. BU, BC, UMD, Clarkson, Hawvawd have all fallen by the wayside, some terribly. Colgate and NE had a nice runs. UM has been a constant power under him. Y'all are nuts. UW wandered in the wilderness for 7 years before MJ got the right combination of players on the roster. Even in those years of natty wandering, MJ had 2 finals losses. It's been 8 for Frosty with 1 finals loss. There's no reason why this year he couldn't break thru again. Who do you think would do a better job besides Muzzy or MJ?
I get that UW and tOSU are an intimidating duo at the top of the league, but the home team can barely see them anymore as they disappear in the distance.2-7-1 record the to end the season.
No. Pretty much right after that last post, the Gophers made it clear that they had quit on the season. The lack of effort and discipline over the last few weeks has been embarrassing.Wonder if Still Eyeore thinks the tunnelers are good?
Interesting that you don’t mention Muzzerall as a possibility should Frost leave. Curious as to why.No. Pretty much right after that last post, the Gophers made it clear that they had quit on the season. The lack of effort and discipline over the last few weeks has been embarrassing.
Today has to be the last game Brad Frost coaches at Minnesota. Both he and the players have been going through the motions since the beginning of February. Today's game was at least different in that the skaters started out playing well, and it was dreadful goaltending that did them in. Clark's play has steadily declined since January, and it fell off a cliff against Northeastern.
Then, once they were down 3-0, Minnesota mostly surrendered. They gave effort in the offensive end, and they're probably telling themselves that they lost because they couldn't get any bounces. And that's true. They didn't get any bounces. But that's not why they lost. They stopped putting any work into defense. The fourth Northeastern goal was humiliating. Five Gophers stood around while the Huskies passed the puck through the crease. They got two goals in the last nine minutes on power plays created by really weak calls, and ran up the shot totals, making this game look closer than it was.
Frost needs to go. Any players that want to transfer because of that should be thanked for their service to date, and I wish them well. Under no circumstances should anyone on the current staff be elevated to be the head coach. They should start by seeing if Natalie Darwitz is interested in the job. If she's not, start looking among the good, young coaches in other leagues. I am entirely unqualified to say whether any current WCHA assistants should be considered or who, outside of Darwitz, should be a candidate. But find someone.
This was easily the most disappointing of my sixteen seasons of Gopher women's hockey fandom. They spent the first six weeks making it obvious that they were one of the three best teams in the country, and not far behind the other two. That first game in Madison was thrilling. They then spent the rest of the season making it clear that they didn't really want to be one of the three best teams in the nation.
Fortunately, Penn State stepped up to be the third Big Ten team in the Frozen Four once Minnesota had made it clear that they weren't interested.
No one likes Muzzy but her current fan base. She's a poacher. That one Natty she won her team was basically an all star team of other teams best players. Obviously she is a fantastic coach and the only call I would make if I was the MN AD, except maybe to to Madison to see if Dan Koch or Jackie Crum would want to be a traitor.Interesting that you don’t mention Muzzerall as a possibility should Frost leave. Down the shitter, that's where.Hey, where's that slot in the Frozen Four and a chance to win it all?
Totally agree that her antics are looked down upon by many. But I agree she is a very good coach and a former Gopher player and assistant. If I were a fanatic Gopher fan I would love to try to bring her back. That is why I found it interesting that Still Eeyore didn't mention her.No one likes Muzzy but her current fan base. Because I don't like the way she runs that program. My objections aren't quite what the others' are. I dislike the gamesmanship. I don't like the determination that the refs can't call everything, so just keep committing penalties. I dislike the face-off bull****. And she manages to be even more dilatory about sending out line changes than Mark Johnson is. She may win, but that sort of team would be less fun to root for. I am very firmly in the camp that winning is not everything.Interesting that you don’t mention Muzzerall as a possibility should Frost leave. Curious as to why.
I'm not going to dump on Murphy too much. Her disciplinary breakdown after returning from the Olympics was a symptom, not the problem. The whole team, or at least most of it, was just as guilty. Murphy's issues were just a lot more visible than the others.18 totally cost the Gophers any chance of winning.
Her selfish ridiculous style of play again proves to be something no one can control.
She just can’t control herself and Brad Frost should be ashamed of himself for continually allowing it to happen.
He’s definitley just going through the motions and pondering his next stop in the world of hockey. It’s NOT behind the Gopher bench that is a guarantee.
